If you didn't like the Mummy or Everest I'd be wary of any of the others, neither of those have loops or inversions  If you were doing Disney I would have suggested Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. I've been too scared to try it but lots of people tell me Kraken is the smoothest coaster.

i think it is the unknow and i dont like the cars you are in i think you might feel safer with the bars over your head:erm:
The smoothest and least scary of all the coasters, by a mile, is Montu at Busch Gardens.
It looks scary and it does go upside down, but it is pure exhilerating fun. I broke my coaster cherry on it and was so scared when I got on - but wanted it to go round again and again............
It is also a foot dangly one and so you have the added security of not being able to see straight ahead at what is coming.
Kraken is also smooth and fantastic, but it is a sit on coaster and you can see that first huge drop - even now loving them, it scares me a bit. And that first drop -you actually stop breathing half way down waiting for it to end lol

montu and kumba are the easiest to ride both lovely and smooth and no real special elements but kraken and hulk are better but the fact ones floorless and the other has a powered launch i feel make them more intimadating

My DW goes on the Mummy and quite enjoys it as it does not go upside down or loops.
Last summer she said she would try Hulk before the end of our holiday. I suggested she go on it early as she would enjoy it , but she left it till the last night just before the park shut, and got the courage to go on.
She loved it and wished she had gone on at the start of the holiday, as she did not get to go on again, but cannot wait to go on it this year, and reckons she will do DD as well.
The ride is very smooth, so get on it straight away, if you dont like it well at least you tried it, and if you do enjoy it you will have plenty of time to go again

My DH would not go on a coaster for years - until I managed to persuade him to go on Scorpion at BG. This is a very small, one loop over coaster which is a really good training ground; it's where I started my DD ;)
Now there's no stopping either of them - in fact they've left me behind in the fearless stages and are going for Sheikra in August :omg:

I was a rollercoaster virgin until my friends actually forced me onto Nemesis at Alton Towers. Still wasn't sure, so got forced onto yet more rollercoasters. Put my foot down at Oblivion - no way! (I did end up going on it at a later date though).
Never been on the rollercoasters at BG, so I can't comment on any of those.
Kraken was the scariest one for me. That huge drop at the start is enough to put me off. But the rest of the ride is fantastic!
Hulk - the start will consistently put me off going on it again (though I probably will).
You could try Duelling Dragons. I didn't think that was too bad, compared to the others?
My DS wouldn't go on coasters and my DW took him on Kraken (just the 2 of them without anyone else knowing) and now we can't get him off them !!!

Kraken was the first 'proper' coaster my DS ever rode. He spent all day looking at it trying to decide, in the end I told him to get on as it was safe and if he didn't like it it was only a few seconds. He LOVED it and rode 5 times on the trot. Now we are off to Magic Mountain so he can ride his first 4D and hyper coasters
To be honest Kraken did a grand job of putting me off coasters for good on our 1st visit but as my youngest goes on everything possible i feel a bit shamed up so we are going to Alton Towers in a fortnight for dds birthday going to use it as a bit of a testing ground for when we go in Oct !!!!!!!!!!!! :confused2

My friends took us to Seaworld on our first day and made us all do the Kraken, fantastic, we all enjoyed it, yes terrified, but there was no stopping us after that. Everyone I know who has done the Kraken first never looks back, I know thats contrary to what the other poster said but I would definitely give it a go :thumbs-up Debbie

Montu is definately a good safe and smooth ride. The scariest part of the Hulk is the power launch at the beginning the rest of it is quite tame.
With the Hulk you are fired upwards at the start, so there is no slow climb to the top like on Kraken. If the build up to a coaster scares you, Hulk might be a good option...no time to think about it :)
I am just like you and am reading these replies with great interest ! I have done th mummy and RnR . RnR was no big deal but the mummy was scarier but still doable ! I really feel stupid and like i am missing out but the anticipation is so awful for me i can't get on them !

I absoulutly loved it and think I will be able to go on anything now.
I recommend Kraken

Hulk
There's no slow climb, so no fear of heights, just a minute of wait as you strap in. The Hulk has all the features you'd want on a coaster, so when you've been on you'll know you can do, and love, them all.

Definatley the hulk i went on it last year for the first time, was petrified as everyone kept saying that you flew out at the top, but it was amazing, i never used to like them and now cant wait to go back and do it again, once you have been on it you will want to go again.

My mum never usually does coasters with loops but this year was brave enough to do rock and roller coaster. Two days later she then decided to do Montu and loved it. The next day she was on duelling dragons! I love coasters so it's difficult to pick an 'easy' one for coaster first-timers but I would go with Montu as it's so smooth, however it is a long one! I find the hulk can be quite shaky (I generally feel like my heads been rocked about too much after it!). HTH! :)
DH and our youngest son (almost 16) have nerves of steel and will go on anything!! Kraken is one of their favourites, but even they say that it is a mad coaster, particularly the first drop!! Their other favourites are Hulk, Duelling Dragons and Rock `n Roller Coaster. :-)
TBH both the Hulk and Kraken have there good parts. However i would prob try Kraken first if you havent done either ride before.

It's great, I'm sure you won't regret it. No big drops that give you that horrible feeling in your stomach, if that helps :)
Have a look at this one of The Hulk. :-)

Another vote for The Hulk, it was my first 'big' coaster and you do get a real buzz of acheivement when you get off after the first time.
Now Gwazi at BG, I didn't like that one - you get off and feel as though all your neck bones have crumbled! It really does shake you about.

I lost my coaster virginity on Rock 'n' Roller....my son paid me a tenner to do it....I did and loved it.....after that I was fearless....if you want to lose yours to a real coaster I'd definitely make Montu your first....it's the smoothest and most exhilarating coaster ever

I so wish I was brave enough to go on these rides, I am just too scared - in fact - completely terrified!! :( :(

I would recommend the Hulk. I found it the 'slowest' of the coasters. The best/worst bit depending on whether you like coasters or not was the beginning when they shoot you up but you don't really have time to think about it. It was my little bros first rollercoaster (he was 10 ish) and loved it.
I'm not good on coasters that don't have the shoulder bar things as they shake me round too much and I feel sick. But Hulk was great, and so was Kracken but I think the Hulk would be best for the first one.

I`d just give it a go, you may find you really enjoy it. :) Nothing bad will happen to you and the coaster rides don`t last that long anyway. If you don`t try, you`ll never know whether you`re going to like it or not. If you love it then that`s great and if you don`t, you never have to do it again.

It took me three visits to Florida to do the coasters, Now I do the lot. Personally I would go for either the Kracken, it is very smooth and the drop is not all that steep. Once you have fallen the first 20 feet the rest of the drop feels the same. Other than that Kumba at BG, same sort of thing big and smooth. Most rides it depends where you sit. i like to know what is going on so sit at the front. The back seats generally give the wildest rides, for example Montu is very intense at the back. Sit in the middle rows and is can be quite tame.

IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE EVEREST, THEN I'D STEER CLEAR OF THE OTHERS . THE COASTERS YOU MENTIONED ARE ALL WHAT I WOULD CALL "UNTHEMED" SO THE MINUTE YOU START CLIMBING YOU SEEM VERY VULNERABLE. ON EVEREST FOR EXAMPLE EVERYTHING IS VERY THEMED AND YOU HAVE STUFF TO LOOK AT SO YOU DON'T REALISE HOW HIGH UP YOU ARE. I WOULD SAY KRAKEN IS PROBABLY THE TAMEST THOUGH OF THE ONES ON YOUR LIST - GOOD LUCK!!!:d:
Sheikra, Dueling Dragons, The Incredible Hulk, Rock 'N' Roller Coaster, Montu and the mighty Kraken - choose any of them and you're onto a winner. Personal preferences are Sheikra, Dueling Dragons and Rock 'N' Roller Coaster, but they all reap quality.
Sheikra's terrifying but insane fun.
I would go for Kraken. It's the smoothest ever.
