Ok guys help needed,
I am fair & freckly, but am desperate for some colour , shall I try Fake Bake & if so where do I get it from. Also does it smell as I have tried Garnier & Johnsons lotion to add colour but I can`t stand the smell....
Thanks
Helen
Ps I have had an epilator for 4 years & never really used it, tried it on sunday & I felt like I had been plucked, but will continue to use it. :)
I'm seriously considering getting a fake tan before we go on the 28th, I never tan naturally and if I get a fake one, I'll be paler when I come home than when I went! :o:
My legs are sooo white they are the colour of raw chicken skin - I've been frantically exfoliating and using tons of body butter to get the skin in good condition, a tan salon has opened in my village so I may give it a go.

Go for it! I am a fellow pale skinned redhead and love fake bake. St Tropez is brill too. St. Tropez is more readily available to buy on the High Street so might be worth trying that.
They both give a really natural colour and work with your skin, so you being pale wouldn't get the same result as a darker skinned person. When you apply them they are both really muddy which is good cos you see any bits you've missed. Just read the instructions thoroughly and you can't go wrong really. :)

try feel unique or island comestics i'm not sure if they have changed yet but its the same website they sell every make of comestics possible all cheap and with free P&P its a very good website. fake bake is a good tanner but i dont like it as i have quite dark skin after sunbeds so i need to keep applying it to build up thecolour but if you are pale it would be well worth it. Or try hawaiin tropic fake tan it smells as nice as the sun cream and its the best colour and still has fake colour when you apply it so you dont miss any parts. Also make sure you get a fake tan glove they are in tescos for 99p or so saves you looking like you have fake tan on then with orange hands just dont forget to do the back of your hands anf fingers when you have finished. hope this helps.

Hi
We bought some Fake Bake spray tan in a tin, i believe it was from
one of the stores that sells all sorts of beauty products in the
florida mall.
My husband has vitiligo (no melanine) so therefore dosen't tan at all
this gave him a very nice light even tan.

Wow thanks everyone, I think I am going to have a go, do I go for the lotion or the spray tan??
Thanks
H
If it helps, my wife is a fully trained beauty therapist who now lectures on the subject - she has used all sorts of fake tan before - St Tropez, Guinot etc but tells me Fake Bake is by far and away the best and it also has the least smell of them all.
She would advise it being applied by a pro though! I had one donw once, it was a St Tropez, when it started to fade it all got stuck in my leg hairs meaning it looked like I had dirty legs for over a month. Not good.

With you being a fake tan novice, I would say go for the lotion. The fake bake airbrush spray is a brilliant product but so hard to get right.
Don't forget to exfoliate first, then put some moisturiser ONLY on your dry patches like elbows, knees and around the feet. Also use some rubber gloves when applying to your body, then when you've taken them off use a large cotton wool pad or similar to apply tan to the backs of your hands.
Also I find the best time to apply it is a couple of hours before bed, so it's got a bit of time to dry before you put your jimjams on :)

Hi there gingababe,
My local Bon Marche store had some long sleeve pj's in the sale today £7 instead of £14.
Not very glamorous but if they're just for putting on after fake tan then they will be fine.
Hope this helps.

Well I have just been into my local Debenhams & was unable to see any Fake Bake, so asked an assistant, she told me that that Debenhams didn`t stock it but the one in Birmingham did!
Popped into TJ Hughes today & they had the St tropez in at what looked at discounted price, didn`t buy as had heart set on Fake Bake , as for jimjams didn`t have my size...... :(
I will keep on looking . :)

I have never seen Fake Bake for sale on the high street but Superdrug do sell a fake bake product called Beyond Bronze by Fake Bake. I have used this and the original fake bake and couldn't see any difference. Why not give that a go (sorry didn't think of it earlier :confused2 ). If not then St. Tropez is brill too.

Have you tried Doves Summer moisture fake tan? Similar to J&J but does not have the nasty smell. Easy to apply, colour not too drastic, easy to build up & dos not streak. Worth a try before you spend loads on Fake Bake.

I am very pale and fake tans do streak on me so i use Niveas moisturizer with a hint of a tint which is really good. Also if i want something with a bit more colour i bought a self tanner called Rodial Brazillian tanner which is an instant and dark colour but i mix a small bit with body or facial moisturizer and the colour is fantastic with no streaks,i got it from QVC website after hearing a lot of celebs use it
I'm a pasty whitey and I've been to the salon and had the Guinot fake tan done. It's always really natual looking as apparently it's designed more for paler skins, unlike St Tropez.
I may try that Fake Bake one if I can find the money!!

A good website for Fake Bake is www.beautyflash.co.uk, it sells loads of really good cosmetics cheaper than the rrp, I use them all the time. Think they also do cheaper St.Tropez too. Usually get my items within 2 days of ordering just with normal delivery. HTH!
P.S. I always use Dove holiday skin/nivea/johnsons equivalent. Just not brave enough for 'proper' fake tan!!

Thanks for the link, I've used Fake Bake, St Tropez and now found Dove! I'm more darker and find that the the FB and St T tend to make me really really dark, the Dove one is good as it doesn't smell (I really seem to stink after using the others!! lol), and it builds a really nice golden colour and for a fraction of the price too!

I love Fake Bake, used it for years, never had any problems with it...try Ebay..theres sellers on there that sell it for £11.99 buy it now price for the lotion and £8.99 for the mousse (which Ive also used as was pleased with-this ones more ideal if you want to apply and go in a hurry,as it dries straight away)
Helen x Thanks for this post by the way you've reminded me to go buy some more, ive nearly run out! :omg:

I really don't like the smell either but I've found that even Dove leaves a smell if you use it for several days in a row.
I'd be interested if anyone's used the NEW johnsons holiday skin? They're advertising it at the moment as not having the smell that fake tan usually leaves.

I've used the NEW Johnsons one & I had to sell it on ebay in the end due to the smell.... so fingers crossed with Fake Bake, so I am now nearly ready, I am going to epilate(sp) today then I will FB in the week, does that sound about right? Any help & tips I would appreciate? I am thinking just to do my legs first? What do I do about my face? Do I use the same or not or help :confused2
Thanks

I would do just your legs first just incase you hate the colour(very unlikely!), or you may have an allergic reaction. I also use the body one on my face but do go sparingly around facial hair and make sure you get the back of your neck. The only other tip is re. moisturising. If you don't suffer with dry skin then just exfoliate but don't moisturise. If you are dry-skinned then you will need to moisturise but make sure you do it a few hours before you apply the tan, so there's no moisturiser left on your skin to interfere with the product.
