Hi :wavey:
Could you try and help me choose between the Disney Pop hotel (or one of the other ones similar in price) or the Holiday Inn on Internationl drive?
We have had quotes for similar prices (actually the Disney one was £300 cheaper!)
We will be going for the 1st time for 2 weeks in Spet 09. mum, dad, fiance and little girl (who will be 3).
I quite fancy the Disney ones, but not sure if it will be 'too much' for a full 2 weeks?
We will have a car, so can venture out to other places.
Can anyone give me the pro's and con's of being on site please?
Thanks!

we have been several times and stayed on international drive but last year decided to stay on disney at pop century and it is just an amazing experience. from disney point of veiw it was better as get extra hours so can plan day a lot better. u also have a little one she will just love it. u also say u have a car so will be able to get to the other places like sea world, universal, shops. my choice would be to experience the magic of disney.

thanks for your reply- sounds amazing!
what are extra hours? i have seen people reffering to it, but never knew about it :confused2
Having stayed on and offsite, I think it would be difficult for me to go back now to being offsite as the EMH benefits are worth more money alone - for your info every day certain pakrs open earlier or later specifically for walt disney hotel guests. Last summer I was in MK until 3am. Queuing up for POTC at 2.50am. Brilliant.

Extra Hours...every day one Disney Park opens 1 hr early or closes upto 3hrs later...this is only open to people staying at Disney hotels.

I would personally stay in a disney hotel if the prices work out similar for you. We intend to stay in pop century next year and have read good reviews on it. For me,staying in a Disney hotel adds to the magical feel of the whole experience(and worth it for EMH)
The 'benefits' of staying on site are Extra Magic Hours (EMH), and you do not pay for car parking at the WDW parks (currently $11 a day), you can also use the WDW transport system (but in reality any one could use this).
EMH will be advertised for one park to open one hour early but it can still be fairly busy but not as busy as it may get - we take advantage of the early opening. Also one park will be open for up to 3 hours after 'official' closing - again only WDW guests can use this, the only problem in the evening EMH is that it can be quite late e.g. if a park officially closes at 10:00 then EMH hours can go to 01:00 in the morning. Little ones may find that difficult. Closing times depend upon when you are going.
We stayed off site until a couple of years ago and now DW likes to be on site. We always have a car and do tend to leave site to eat and shop and of course go to Seaworld and US

I have stayed onsite and off, and for me it would be a disney hotel everytime, stayed at the Pop in december and had a great time.

Or you can do what we do and split your stay.
We stay on International Drive for a week to do all the stuff in that area then transfer down to Disney for a week of 'magic'.
