Hi Jill,

Yesterday we returned for a 2 week Florida holiday staying at the Holiday Inn on I-Drive. Most of the hotels/motels on I-Drive are the pretty much the same, with basic standard rooms. The room we had was one of the motel style rooms and not in the tower block and I have to say I was impressed. Good sized, clean rooms with maid service everyday. Nice pool and free shuttle to the various parks, Universal, Disney, Seaworld, etc, and within walking distance of Wet n Wild.

We originally booked the Comfort Inn near Universal but after reading several reviews we changed the booking the HI.

I have to say if this is your first visit to Florida, like it was ours, you will only be going back to the hotel to sleep as you will have little time to do anything else there!!

We really enjoyed our two weeks and feel like we need another holiday to get over this one!

ENJOY!!!!

I'm pretty sure you're opp wet and wild.
Epcot is about a 25$ ride by taxi if that helps
Disney is def not walkable

Hi Jill,

There is a free shuttle service to all of the main parks and you will be in walking distance of Wet n Wild, being just a couple of blocks away.
We didn't hire a car so the shuttles and i-trolley (50p per person, per journey) were great.

Sea World and Aquatica are a short distance away but not really walkable, again we used the i-trolley and shuttle for these.

The Universal parks are about 3 miles away so the taxi fare came to about £3 for these, though again you can get the free shuttle.

Your best bet for the Disney parks is the free shuttle as the cab fare could be a little expensive, about £15-£20.

Its really easy to get around and with the £ being great against the $ its really good value.

Cheers, Tim.

I thought Universal was only a mile away from The Holiday Inn?

Bloody hell I was thinking of walking it to the parks so it doesn't tie us down to a certain time. I think that idea has been thrown out of the window.

What time where the shuttles to and from Disney? also what transport did you use moving around in Disney in between parks?

It is walkable to Universal but it's a long hot walk along a main road. You can get normal buses from across the road as well as the shuttle bus and the i ride, it's do-able. We've stayed twice at the Holiday Inn, this will be our third time this year, and we don't drive either.

You book the shuttle the day before, they are usually full, so the lynx bus or the i ride anables you to come and go in your own time.

Thanks a lot, I think we'll use the shuttle to most places then taxi back.

I know i'm going a bit off topic here but any food places you can recommend near the Holiday Inn and Bars.

Where the HI is situated there are lots of places to eat, just don't expect anything too spectacular.

Most of them are buffets. The average breakfast comes in at about at about $5-$8 and evening meal buffets at between $10-$15. For breakfast the mains ones we ate at were 'The Ponderosa' and 'Dennys' and in the evening we liked 'Sizzler' and 'Golden Corral'. All of these are a short walk from the hotel.

It would have been nice to get dressed up a few nights and go for a really nice meal within walking distance of the HI but we couldn't seem to anything to suit. But, in saying that you definatly won't go hungry and the prices are great value.

With regards to bars, we had little ones with us so we didn't get much further than the bar at the HI, but it was nice to go back to the hotel after a long day and have a cool beer to unwind and than a short walk back to the room to crash!!
