Having booked for a 3 week vacation this summer I was wondering if it would be worth looking into the disney vacation ownership. I often pass the stands and wonder what incentive they offer for a tour. Also I am totally unaware of what they are selling - lifetime timeshare? points? If anyone has made that step recently could they perhaps tell me a bit more and if it would be really worth our time?.
puzzled DIBBER - joules :confused2

That thread can explain it a lot better than me.;) We have recently bought into the DVC and are completely thrilled about it!:spin:
It just made complete sense for us and the way we holiday. So we can now look forward to our accomodation paid for for the next 46 years!:thumbs-up

Totally agree with Leanne!
We bought into DVC in 2005 and can honestly say it's one of the best purchases we have ever made!
Of course it's not for everyone, but if you plan on visiting WDW a lot over the coming years and like staying onsite in fabulous accomodation it's well worth a look!

It wasnt for us, but Id definately reccommend you take the tour even if you only want to use it as a fact finding mission. There is absolutely NO hardsell - you are given a tour, the facts about ownership and then the prices. There is no pressure at all to buy - and most people dont buy then and there, they at least take away the literature to look over. You get a salesman allocated to you, and a number to call them on with questions you might have.
We have nearly bought twice, but the maths just didnt add up for our family, but it CAN be a great buy. It depends what you want.
For us, staying onsite is not the be all and end all - we are quite happy with an offsite Villa. I needed 410 points to get the accomodation size I needed and the "dues" (service charge, paid annually) came to more than I would pay for an offsite villa - The points would cost me about £17000 so the maths didnt work.
Where is DOES work, is if you holiday AT Disney every year and you can get by in a smaller unit as your outlay will be cheaper and annual dues cheaper. A lot of DVC owners will "split stay" or bank their points to use every other year - again this works well.
For our family - which is quite large, we would need a large unit and we like to go every year for at least 3 weeks, the costs were not condusive, unless we only spent 4-5 days in the DVC - which didnt appeal to any of us.
Do your research, crunch your numbers - DEFINATELY do the tour and then decide. The dollar is so weak right now, its a great time to buy if you do decide to go ahead.
