View Full Version : Aruba
Was wondering if anybody had been here before. Our friends rang tonight to say they were considering going next year and wondered if we would like to go.
:omg: Don't know what to do now, go for 3 weeks to Florida or 2 weeks in the Caribbean, asked the children what they wanted and eldest DD said Caribbean, DS said Florida and youngest DD said she doesn't mind where we go.
Think I will get some prices tommorow and go from there :confused2

That's exactly what i would probably say, but Owen got bored very quickly when we went to Barbados (he likes to be on the go, you know him never still :pgig: ) I could lay about all day long.
I'm going to get some prices tommorow and decide from there

Send Owen to Disney and you and the kids go to the Caribbean :pgig:
On a serious note though, Aruba is an up-and-coming island (a lot less commercial than Barbados)so there will probably be a lot less to do outside the hotel. You should also check whether it is a malaria region as, if it is, you would need to take anti-malarials before, during and after your stay.
Just had a look in our brochures and must say it looks lovely. If I didn't still have my eye on Mexico for next year, I'd be seriously tempted:)

I made enquiries about Aruba a few years ago but this was mainly 'cos I was into windsurfing and the place is a mecca for surfers. So expect some windy days! Reports I've had from friends who have been really liked it.
Some useful info can be found at:

nearly a 10 hour flight as well!

Hi, Went to Aruba last year and would not hesitiate to go back, in fact this year was a close call between Aruba and Florida, Florida won, just. First Choice fly out either weekly or fortnightly from London and Manchester. Weather is unbelieveable, 28-30 every day and kept this low due to the constnat warm wind, when it drops you really feel the heat. An Americal feel to the island as they love it. We stayed at the Tamarijn, a good basic standard, right on the beach, open your patio doors and to see paradise. A fair bit to do so don't always have to laze around. This hotel shares all facilities with sister hotel, check out Travel Advisor for more opinions. Might be back next year.
