We took a yellow cab over, then had brunch in a cafe on the other side, bright pink inside, right by the start of the bike/walk, then walked back into Manhatten.

we got the sub way to the other side and then walked towards where you can enter to the walkway/cycle path. there as a diner we topped in for a quick cuppa before we started. it was riht on a huge 4 way cross roads with the walkway in the centre. i think there is only one other entrance closer to the bridge, up some stairs that you access this walkway (other than hurdling the fence, but i was to old and knackered for that)

When we did it, we took the A train to High St, the first stop in Brooklyn, the 'C' train also goes there. Then we walked down to the riverside, and had pizza at Grimaldis (http://www.grimaldis.com/brooklyn.htm), which is often billed as the best pizza in NY on the Trip Advisor forums, then ice cream at the parlour at Pier 1, Fultons Ferry Landing opposite, then did the walk. Amazing views of the Manhattan skyline, especially on a sunny day!
