Planning on going to Disneyland Paris in December, and didn't know which hotel to go to, Will be Me, Girlfriend and DD6 going. Disneyland hotel was too expensive when i priced up but would consider any others.
We have stayed at the Hotel New York twice. It's a really nice hotel, it's designed by the same man who designed the Dolphin and Swan at WDW, and you can definitely see similarities, though on a much smaller scale of course. We got a room overlooking the ice-skating rink, it was great fun watching the skaters, as you're going in December that would be great for you. You can walk to the parks from the hotel as well, no waiting around for buses.
Hope that helps a bit, it's a while since we stayed there but I'm sure it's just as good now as it was then. :d:

We stayed at Hotel Santa Fe when we took the kids in February.
Very comfortable and clean and although the cheaper option, it is quite adequate.
The buffet at the hotel is fairly good too - lots of tex mex style food, pasta, soups, salads - great for hungry kids to fill up on.

On our 1st trip we stayed in Hotel Cheyenne but on our 2nd trip we stayed in the Holiday Inn as it was a lot cheaper - we booked direct www.ichotelsgroup.com. It has a circus theme and indoor pool which was bonus as it was December. The breakfast was fine - normal buffet. The bus ran often and if you where staying in Santa Fe or Cheyenne you would probably use the bus anyhow. We did find the hotel food & drink to be expensive but I think thats the norm in Paris anyhow.
Hope this helps

It really depends on your budget, try the Newport Bay as this looks and feels posh, and the themeing is fantastic. The hotel New york is also good but it feels too business like and not as Disney as the other hotels. Having stayed in them all except Santa fe, I could give some more non biased reviews if you like

We've booked for the Sequoia Lodge. Read some bad reviews about the Santa Fe, and so even though it was cheaper we plumped for Sequoia Lodge. It swung it for me as it has a pool, which I thought would be good as we're going for 5 days. I can't give a review on it as I've never been, but I have read good things about it :thumbs-up

We have stayed at the Santa Fe 3 times and never had any problems.
It is the cheapest of all the disney hotels, it is clean, comfortable and only a 10 min walk to the parks!

We're hoping to go for 2 nights in December too.
We're there in August and staying at the Cheyenne.
Can't find any prices for December yet though.

Thanks for your advice, already read somewhere on here that it can half the price to go by ferry to Dunkirk than to Calais so that would save a few quid. But my budget for the trip is trying to keep it under the £1000 figure. Prices aren't avalible yet for December apparently, but was told they are released in may but couldn't say when as person on phone who was very helpful didn't know. I guess there may be a bit of an increase because of the £ to € rate but to give me an idea was pricing up October 1/2 term. AT this time New York was coming in at £1100 and disneyland £1600  So if the New York is a bit cheeper i would consider that but if not it's one of the cheaper options which is where the "Don't know which one?" comes in. :confused2
The more i think about it and looking online i seam to go off the Davy Crockett. Staying off site i have also considered, but a bit unsure as to if eating out is going to cost the earth as with the disney hotel you can go half board at a reasonable rate. Can anyone give me an idea on the average price of a meal?

Erm I don't really know the price of an average meal.
What I can say though is that when we went last year, we stayed offsite at the Best Western Marne La Vallee. It was in Bussy St Georges, a 4 minute train journey to the parks and only a 2 minute walk to get to the train station. It was a very nice hotel and served an excellent buffet style brekkie.
Just next to the train station were several pub/cafes that sold meals. One in particular we went to was very reasonable and the food was excellent. We had huge pizzas for about 7euros and think my friends had steak and chicken.
We ate out at the Rainforest Cafe one night, 4 main courses and 2 childrens meals for around 90 euros I think.
We also went to Cafe Mickey but we were treated so I don't know how much that was.
My point is, if you are on a very tight budget and eating at a non-disney venue doesn't concern you, then it is possible to have a fab meal off site for a very good price, as long as you know where to go!
Hi :wavey:
We have stayed both at Sequonia Lodge
http://hotels.disneylandparis.co.uk/hotels/sequoia-lodge/index.xhtml
and the Explorers Hotel
http://hotels.disneylandparis.co.uk/other-accomodation/my-travels-explorers-hotel/index.xhtml
We had a great stay at both of them. Sequonia Lodge was on a trip with my husband's work, but Explorers I booked everything on my own.
Although the Explorers was a little further out, this was not a problem at all. The bus was very regular and we never had to wait more than a few minutes. (it was still only a few minutes on the bus and we did walk it to the parks one day) It had a great pool & nice bar area, and was really good value for money.
I bought the Disney tickets from the Hotel, not sure if this was the cheaper way or not.
I booked the flights with Easyjet and just bought a rail card when we arrived.
The trains are very regular and reliable. Booking each step independently was definitely cheaper than booking a package deal.
We found Paris generally expensive, especially the food and drinks.
A good place for the children is Annettes Diner. Waiters on skates and they dance to Grease at certain times of the night. My kids loved it !

We've travelled the Dover to Dunkerque route with Norfolkline twice at October half term for around £18 return and my hubby won more than that on the bandit on the ferry. The ferries were amazing too, bright & clean with the usual bars and restaurants but the best thing according to my kids was the free playstation room, a big thumbs up from them. The drive down to DLRP was very easy. First time we stayed in the Explorers for £50 a night the second time we stayed in the Dream Castle for £80 per night and also in the Marriott Village D'Ille France which was just superb with immaculate town houses and studios I think the studio was £99 per night and the townhouse was maybe £150 per night ....sorry I can't remember exact figures but I know it was well worth the money plus you can prepare meals in the townhouse too Also my kids loved the free kids club there the reps were brilliant with them and arranged different activities daily. Also we bought AP's on our first trip which were well worth the money as the perks with DLRP ones are great from being able to get into the parks early to free strollers, 5 untimed fast passes, 20% off food 7 merchandise, free parking etc plus at the time somebody sponsored us and we got an extra 10% off.
I guess it depends on whether you want to be within walking distance of the parks and whether you want a Disney type package ....I think the DIY route with AP's can work out economical if your trip is for more than a few days and definately good if can squeeze in another trip within 12 months?

Some pics of the Marriott Village D'Ille France mentioned above it was immaculate. Small shop, nice pool & steam room, sauna etc, kids room (free kids club), bar (free wine & cheese & pancake evening etc). Play park areas and free table tennis & chess etc. Also courtesy pink bus to the parks (didn't use as we had car & free AP parking).

Thanks for all your help. I was considering Explorers and Dream Castle as a off site option, but now you mention Marriott that may well be an option as a stayed in a couple and never had a bad 'un yet! Will just hqave to price them up and pick one.. Thanks for food tips i was just worried as a friend said he went and had 2 main courses in a restaurant and the bill was £70 and was for nothing special.

We've stayed in all the onsite hotels and our favs are Sequoia Lodge and Cheyenne, but we do have a ds and dd who don't like sharing a bed. Sequoia is v. close to walk to the parks, Newport Bay is further than it looks plus it is so big that you can have a big walk once you get into it (guess what dh is just playing the xmas song from dlp while he sorts out the holiday video's - how appropriate!!) If you want to risk it wait it out and you might get a special offer, we have done that twice now the first time we got 4 nights for 3 just before xmas (came home on 23rd dec) in the disneyland hotel, never thought we would be able to afford to stay there. We don't like the New York, to us it has no character or theme at all, is just a big conference hotel. We have looked at the Marriott and had actually booked until we were double checking disney and got the sequoia including tickets cheaper so we cancelled. We like not having to use the car or buses when we are there so the onsite ones suit us better. Just remember Disney know the prices that are being charged and will quite often adjust theres so that they cost the same or are cheaper and you get b'fast and your passes plus the magic hours.
Good luck, wish I could persuade dh to go again, but not likely if I want florida next feb.

Spider 666 - for the length of time you are going you must look into Annual Passes. For the number of days you will be there they will be cheaper. Take a look at the DLP planning thread in the Non Florida planning forum.

Tis ok!
We just need to save 2484 airmiles to get free flights again and will hopefully get a good deal with sis in law as she works for Best Western.
Fingers crossed we'll be there for Christmas! Lol!

We also stayed at this hotel over NYE last year and really enjoyed it. Very clean friendly hotel with great breakfast. We ate at the chinese just next door to the pizza restaurant and it was great and very reasonable. We had a meal at Planet Hollywood at Disney, can't remember exactly how much it cost but we thought it reasonable at the time, big portions and very good!!

The advantage of staying at a Disney on site hotel is that park hoppa tickets are included in the price of your hotel for the days you are there. That way you don't have to pay for both hotel and tickets. If you book through the site you can also book and pay for things ahead of time. There is a range of half board specials you can book. We booked the most expensive (we are going in June for our anniversary staying a Sequia Lodge) That allowed us to pay for our Dinner (evening meal ) in advance, and eat at the nicest resturants. If you book a cheeper half board you can use your meal tickets at face value but pay the rest. Try booking ahead for Buffalo Bill if you can. You will save money and have it all sorted before you go.
For some good advice check the sticky thread at the top of this section and or get hold of a copy of Brits Guide to Disneyland Resort Paris.
