Can anyone recommend a 'safe' place to get a tattoo done in Orlando/Kissimmee please.

Ted just a word of warning, even if you go to a reputable tattooist and you have an infection I'm not sure if your insurance will cover you for any treatment.
I may be wrong but knowing insurance companies do look for an escape you may be on thin ice.

I wouldn't risk it either, if anything goes wrong you probably won't be covered. Not only that you won't be able to expose it to the sun whilst you're there.

Ian got one done in a place on I-drive, can't remember the name but its next to the Harley Davidson store. As far as I was led to believe they are all safe as the ones over here as there are strict rules on cleanliness etc.
If you do get one, get it on your last day as you have to keep it out of the sun and the water so you don't want it to interfere with your holiday and also if it does get infected, which I think would be highly unlikely, then you are back home and you wouldn't have to worry about claiming insurance.

Sharon that sounds like good advice, covers all eventualities.

Ted,
As Claire stated there is a tattoist at Universal Citywalk called Hart & Huntington. I am thinking about getting one when I'm on holiday. They do have their own website where you can check out some of their designs. :wavey:

There is also one in one of the flea markets which looked quite good, all the tattooists were very attractive young ladies in very high heels, if you like that kind of thing!

Hi Ted
There is a tattooist in Old Town Kissimmee, this is where the person used to work that did DH's tattoo. Would highly recommend him.
The only other thing is that they are a lot more expensive than getting one done over here.
I would have no problem getting another tattoo done while I was on holiday. We didn't wait till the last couple of days of our trip. We did still swim etc, but had to make sure that our tattoo's didn't get wet. I got mine on my upper arm so was easy to keep out of the sun and water.

I have a small tattoo on my which I had done nearly 25 years ago in Blackpool.
I ignored all the advice (stupid I know) and went in the seas up there and did everything you are not supposed to do when you have a tattoo, and believe it or not it was fine !
I am still 50/50 about having one done over there.

I'm very tempted to go see the guys at 'Miami Ink' for my 3rd tattoo!
We have been tattooed a few times in florida. As long as you leave it to the last day, no sun exposure and no sea or pool water touches it, it's pretty much same risk as having one here.
We always go to Scratch the Surface there are 2 on idrive we go to the top 1 off kirkman rd. Very good artists, very clean and they have done some high profile people too that helped us decide there. It's a bit more expensive than some (about UK prices) but you can get them down a bit. But i'd rather pay more from them as I know them now.
As long as you research the place your thinking about and make sure there are no reviews hopefully you'll be fine. :)
Good advice here and very tempting to add to my 3 ! But my tattoist here would slate me, he criticises nearly everyone elses' work lol
My last one was lower back and it hurt like heck - was uncomfortable for days afterwards - no way would I want that on holiday, especially when you have to sit on that plane leaning against it for 8 hours coming home!
Lots to take into consideration really

Denise & I have both had tattoo's done at Inkredible Ink on I Drive. They are at 7215 International Drive - practically on the corner of Carrier Drive. They have very strict hygiene rules & I would recommend them (I now have 8 tattoo's) & Heidi (who used to work there) was brilliant - the detail is excellent. They have a web-site at www.inkredibleink.com - have a look & if you are sure that you want the tattoo done visit the store first & judge for yourself, we have not had any problems with their work & I am looking to go back whenever I have time on my next visit. Remember tattoo's are for life & need to be kept dry for a while & treated with antiseptic cream in the first instance. :thumb:

Thanks EB.
I am defiantly going have a couple done just not sure whether it's there or at home.
The reason I was considering having it done there is that I will (hopefully) have some spare cash for it and I never seem to get around to it at home.
A couple of question's if you don't mind.
Do they get really busy, or can I turn up tell them what I want and they will do it there and then ?
If I want something specific I assume I will need to take a drawing/picture with me ?

Hi Ted - they do get busy but with Inkredible they usually have three or four artists on the go - they also stay open late, typically into the early hours - wait times aren't too long but as with most studios they appreciate customers knowing exactly what they want - they will do it there & then providing you are happy with the price. If you want something specific then take the drawing etc along, show it to the artist & they will give you a price - IMHO free-hand tattoo's taken from pictures always look good, they are unique & the artists seem to enjoy doing them! You never know the tat may even end up in a Tattoo magazine!!

Another vote for Inkredibles on I-Drive. Hubby had a tattoo done there back in 2004 with no problems. Very high standard of work and hygiene. I'm going to be calling on their services in a couple of weeks!

Hmmm I was going to say something naughty but I wont
I am gettin my second tattoo done on Monday, been thinking about gettin another for ages and finally plucked up the courage so Monday at 11am i will be deciding on the design, any ideas are welcome. Am thinking of a star shower on the top of my foot.
Claire
I've got 4 tats. 2 unique hand-drawn, and 2 flash, (1 of which is Piglet - had to be some disney somewhere).
Have thought about getting a new one in Florida, but had enough trouble keeping one dry at home. (Cling-film over it in the shower....really not a good look):D
Would have no chance in Orlando, what with the water parks, pools and wet rides!
