Dropped my DS and his GF off at the Royal Pacific this morning - a treat for them and a bit of peace for us!
Just spoke to them and they went on the Simpsons ride first thing too, they said that the whole experience was very similar to Back To the Future, in as much as it was the same sort of carriage and simulator. They did enjoy it though and thought the theming was excellent. They're hoping to get on it again tomorrow.

Sounds fab! My boys are going to love it!:thumbs-up
We will be on it in under 4 weeks!!:spin:
I hope it's not as jerky as Back to the Future. We are staying at Royal Pacific in the summer and this will be first on the list with our FOL passes.
Can't wait!

I wonder if it still bangs your head around like BTTF did?

I was hoping they were going to 'improve' the ride cars. It's the only simulator I can't deal with, too bumpy and too claustrophobic. :confused2
sounds great, my dd really wants to go on it

Me too - I love white knuckle rides but not this sort of thing, I used to give BTTF a miss as I used to get a headache coming off it.
I was hoping the Simpsons ride would be something different - will have to try it though!!

I remember losing my sun glasses on BTTF 10 yrs ago! so i can vouch for how bumpy a ride it was!

We went on the Simpsons on the first test day last Wednesday and all of us thougt it was terrific. Me and DW suffer badly from motion sickness with any simulated ride but we both had no problem with this ride at all, very smooth and the graphics are just incredible. When we went to Universal the previous week all the boardings were still in place and we were a bit disappointed that we would not be able to ride, got there last Wed and just happened to see a large queue outside and the boards were gone, joined the queue and 40 mins later were on the ride. A great surprise and well worth the wait.

Good to know I will bear in mind that it can be a bit bumpy. My youngest DD 6 may not want to do it if it is bumpy.
Will keep an eye on other threads about this one.

I'd be interested in bumpiness comparisons with BTTF, I felt very ill after getting off that and wouldnt' ride it again.

Me too Bev - I can cope with any coaster or simulator over there, except Gwazi (bone shaker) and BTTF - both of which nearly ruined my holiday by aggravating my neck condition :(

i cant wait for this ride i love the simpsons.
I am woried it is BTTF but with a different film ?
We too are just back and DD was also on the ride. Thought it was cool! She was really licky as it just opened when we got to it and was only 20 minutes wait but while we were waiting for her word he obviously got round and it shot up to 70 minutes in no time at all.
Got a couple of photos just from the outside though! :D

Are those real sideshow stalls? Or just faked for the theming?
just faked I'm afraid. Thye've got a quik e mart shop too which sold all the simpson stuff!

Actually I prefer that. I hate those sorts of stalls and was disappointed to see them there.

Went on it today too and have to say it wasn't too bumpy at all. I get sick on Star Tours (and Body Wars used to finish me off completely) but Simpson's was okay.
There's a height limit which isn't on the guide map and they were enforcing it pretty religiously - quite a few disappointed kids.
This ride is built for queuing though- this afternoon the wait was 90 minutes and they were using around half the queuing space so when it gets really busy prepare for a long wait.
As far as FOTL access is concerned there was a sign saying that there was no Express Pass access on the ride while it is going through the technical rehearsal - from what I heard this will be in place until the official opening in mid May.
They are still ironing out some of the bugs - the first car we got into wouldn't start and we had to change to a different car but it was certainly worth it.

I agree about Body Wars myself and DH were really sick when we got off it and I hope Simpsons isnt like it. :wavey:

Only ever did Body Wars once and that was enough for me - thought I was going to be ill everywhere :erm:

Good news, I can't wait!!
We were so disappointed when BTTF went so I'm pleased to hear it's similar - only much better.
I hated riding BTTF because of the motion sickness and bumpiness. This ride is much smoother and I didn't feel sick at all. This was a vast improvement.

Is there much sudden movement with this one ? - Is it fairly smooth ?
Thanks

Complete surprise too. We went to IoA on Monday to be told by the security guard that the Simpsons ride was doing advance previews. So hightailed it to US. Both parks were empty but the queue was busy here as you'd expect but still only took an hour. The queue control and 'car allocation' was very the same as BTTF. The theming was superb!! And the ride itself.
BRILLIANT.
Looks like one of those rides you need to do again and again to catch all the detail. Now sitting joint top (my list my rules ;) )as my fave ride along with Spiderman.
It has to be said I was like a big kid. But looking at everyone else as they were queuing and getting off the ride, i wasn't the only one.
