If so, please could you tell me if you would recommend them what they are like etc. - thanks. :) They are the Bellagio, the Venetian and the Mandalay Bay.

Not stayed in the Bellagio, but vistited. I love love love the mandalay bay hotel, it is at the top end of the strip but it is stunningly beautiful and a lovely haven from some of the madness that can be Vegas.

However, the all suite set up of the Venetian is a winner as well. It is in a more central location as well.

I think though MB would win out for it's pool area and room theming for me though.

We stayed at The Bellagio and loved it, we had a room that overlooked the fountains and it was wonderful. The location is excellent too. We visited the Venetian and it was a bit OTT for us (if that's possible in Vegas!) and the Mandalay Bay, but didn't really get a feel for this hotel.

Can highly recommend The Bellagio, for us when we returned after a day out we felt like we were coming home. :thumbs-up

Mandalay Bay has, just about, the best pool in Vegas - fabulous wave pool and imported sand. The big downside of it is that it's situated right at the south of The Strip (opposite the airport) and to get anywhere either involves taxis, buses or a lengthy walk.

The Bellagio has the most central location of the three. It has a nice pool area, and (if you get it) a stunning view overlooking its own fountain display. It is,however, not kid friendly (if that is a requirement) as children are not allowed in the casino area at all after 7 at night (I think?).

The Venetian rooms are the best of the three - being all suites. A cool decked pool area is great, but it is a little bit further away from the centre of the action than The Bellagio.

Have you looked at The Palazzo - the new tower next to (and attached to) The Venetian? Some great rates going there (again it's all suite) and whilst there is still construction going on, reports class it as 'minimal disruption'.

If you let me know what the purpose of the trip is, I can give you a little more detail?

Stayed at the Bellagio 4 times now - 5 in June and although tempted to look at other hotels for bigger rooms/different dining etc., don't think you can budge me from repeating at the Bellagio because:

Great central strip location, next door to Caesars', opposite Paris. Venetian, while newer and larger rooms is top end of strip and a good 20 minute walk to centre strip.

Lake/fountain view. We have had fountain view rooms lately and they are spectacular as anyone will tell you whether you view it from your room or down on the sidewalk - the show is magnificent and spectacular; not to be missed, and as I stay there I can catch all the variations of the show whenever I want to!

Casino/decor/space and ambience - Like everyone else we travel the strip and hotels - I have always found the Bellagio to be very beautiful, colourful, spacious and well laid out. The interior garden/fountain area is always changing to different themes throughout the year and we always see something different, but always with fresh fragrant flowers in abundance, wonderfully kept within the interior garden. The casino is great too with plenty of machines and tables, with over 13 restaurants/bars/clubs to choose.

A lot of the top end casinos are similar in space/size/amenties, but because of the above reasons, I always probably will choose the Bellagio - perhaps the rooms aren't the biggest on strip, but the service, location, fountain, interior/exterior, level of amenities/restaurants etc. will always make me come back!!

It's worth pointing out you can book a Go Luxury room in The Flamino, with a perfect view of the Bellagio fountains, for a fraction of the price - and get the use of one of the top four pools in Las Vegas!!

I know - I did it last year. ;)

In the Bellagio we were upgraded to a Salone Lakeview Suite last April. Absolutely fantastic views from windows facing the fountains and up the strip toward MGM. For its central location it's a winner, anyway, but the pool, internal gardens, restaurants and buffet, make it the place to return to.

I have stayed in the Bellagio and the mandalay bay both had for and against's for us but the Mandalay Bay room wise and vibe suited us better.

The Bellagio had going for it

the fountains vew
The suite we got upgraded too.
The position on the strip.
The conveseratory area
david Beckham shopping in the high end stores in Decmeber when we were there, (cannot guarentee this)

Against,
Always seemed to be busy with people, and felt rushed in the public areas, like WDW on 4th july.

Even though we had a fountain view suite, room and fitting were not as nice as the Mandalay bay, they were stuffy.

The restaurant choices not as good as Mandalay bay.

The Mandalay Bay
For
Had good entertainment choices, mama mia
Modern Room.
Best pool area
fantastic choice from starbucks to high end restaurant.
Hotel did not seem as busy and more relaxed atmosphere
Less expensive tables
Quieter public areas
Shark pool

Against

At the end of the strip, but the monrail helped.

Sorry only looked around the Ventian but it seemed a lot bigger and last december they were having lots of building work done for the new tower.

Thank you everyone for your replies, you`ve been really helpful. :-) Diamonddog2801, the purpose of our trip is just to go and see Vegas, the hype, the hotels, etc. and we`d also like to see a show, David Copperfield is wining at the moment. There will be me and DH, our sons 17 & 16 (I know they cannot gamble and have to keep moving as if they stop at a machine or table, that is classed as gambling-hope I`ve got that right!!) and DH`s parents. The adults will be having a little gamble though!! My friend went for the first time recently, but only for four nights and she said you need longer there. Do you think that is long enough to see Vegas as there seems to be so much to see there and it`s a long old plane flight too so I would imagine the jet lag and time difference would make an impact on the old body clock??!! DH isn`t keen on doing longer than 4 nights there, although I think he could be persuaded to do 5!! He is convinced it`ll be tacky and not his cup of tea, but I am hoping he will be pleasantly surprised!! ;-)

We have been to Vegas twice and we found 3 nights was enough for us (though I know everyones different).
Not stayed at any of those hotels, but we said if we go back, it would have to be Mandalay Bay, just for the swimming pool!..lol.
Make sure you visit Fremont Street, the light show is amazing, we watched 3 and all of them were different
Love Rio

We went last May with DS 10 and DS 7 and stayed at the Mandalay Bay and really loved it.The rooms were really lovely the pool was fantastic especially for the kids and the atmosphere was really relaxed. It is at the far end of the strip but we used to get the mono rail that took us to the Excalibur. We used to walk through the casinos and the kids were obviously hypnotysed by the slots and tables but no one ever asked us to move on or give us any hassle

Thanks. :-) We are intending to visit the Grand Canyon by helicopter, will have a look out for the Pappillion ones. :-) We also want to visit a show, have a little gamble and have a look around the main well known hotels. Vegas looks amazing and we`re going to go with the flow and have a blast!! Viva Las Vegas!! ;-)
