Can anyone tell me of some good car racing, speedway etc in the orlando area and beyond. I know there is Daytona, but this seems seldom to be on.
Maybe there is a local track that runs weekly?

Thanks :spin:

Can't vouch for it myself, but I found this (http://www.orlandospeedworld.org/).

I used to go to this track with my Dad every Friday night. It is what they would call a "good ole boy" track. It's great for stock car racing and they often have crazy 8 racing or even a demolition. I took my DH there when we moved over from London and he laughed that they used shower curtains for bathroom doors. It was great fun and he loved it but certainly an eye opener.

Another option would be the New Smyrna (http://www.na-motorsports.com/Tracks/FL/NewSmyrna.html) track. It isn't quite as far as Daytona (but close) and they generally race on Saturday nights (some of the Friday night Orlando boys go over there). This track is still the same style (setting wise) but a bit more advanced. Some of the Nascar children race here as several families live around the area.

The other option (still further out but a dirt track) is the Volusia Speedway Park (http://www.volusiaspeedwaypark.net/). They have the quarter midgets there (my friend use to race there) and they are great fun! This would be similar to the Orlando track but a dirt option.

If you go, bring a cushion/pillow to sit on. The bleachers are wood (at least they were) and they can get a bit hard on the bum sitting there so long. lol!

Hope that helps!

I try to get to the short ovals most trips. Im a long time stockcar fan here in the UK, and have on the odd occasion been on the dangerous side of the fence too.
In Florida Ive visited Sunshine [ now closed unfortunately], East Bay [dirt] at Tampa and New Smyrna near Daytona. New Smyrna is a great nights racing, asphalt surface and a half mile around the outside line. Pits are in the middle of the track so you can see whats going on there too.
TBARA Srints were racing the night we went to New Smyrna, they are truly mindblowing. Volusia is supposed to be a good dirt track too.
Another track close to Kissimmee is Auburndale which is situated in Lakeland. Planned to visit here last July but it started to rain mid afternoon and never stopped until after 10pm. They wont race in the wet unlike the UK drivers.
Best site ive found for finding tracks and race schedules is www.chasinracin.com
Think you'll be suprised just how much racing there actually is in Florida, and most tracks have there own local drivers and race most Saturday nights.

Orlando Speedway (Bithlo to us locals) is usually Friday nights.

Volusia County and New Smyrna are Saturday nights.

If I had to pick I would go to Bithlo on Friday and then Volusia on Saturday. It's a great dirt track and if you've never seen quarter midgets run you would really enjoy it.

Daytona of course is the grand daddy of them all. Race weekends are few and far between, but depending when you are travelling, check out the race schedule at Daytona at www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com/buy_tickets/list_of_events/
