What are the crowds like at Universal during these times...will we need to book a room to use the fast pass lines?

totally empty .. I went last year end August beginning of september and no line at all for the Mummy .. all day long... Disney seemed to be a lot busier ( free dining I guess) you will defo not need the front of line..

not sure what weekends were like when the locals may go as I went midweek

I thought December and october were quiet but this period is totally empty.

we even went front row of the Hulk and I never want to line up longer than I have to but only had to wait for 4 people infront of us

Never been this exact time but when we were there July/Aug it definately got quieter as the days went on. Trip reports I have read from people going late Aug concur with the above post aswell.

Scottish and US schools go back earlier the the English ones so a big chunk of visitors have gone. If I had to go in school holidays this would be my only choice of dates.

Here is a photo taken in IOA in early September we always like to get to the park early and this occasion we went in to IOA and went round the park anti clockwise after riding four rides we were walking through seuss landings on our own

Blimey Force Ten, looks like a ghost town. If its this quiet, we will be able to do IOA and US in one day

We went at the beginning of Sept last year and Universal was quiet, and I would agree that they were quieter than Disney.

I am glad nice at quiet in early September - as we are off then!

I am worried about the weather - I want a tan and not to have to wear them lovely plastic thingys !

My tips for September is to have a lie in, get up about 10.00am have a leisurely breakfast and get to the parks around lunch time, That way I will have the parks to myself in the mornings :d: :d:

We have always found it to be fairly quiet at that time of year, even though we stay at Universal over the weekend to save on our DVC points

Hi :wavey:

I will be visiting 30th Aug-14th Sept and have found that you can buy FOTL passes direct from the Universal website for $19.99 per day at that time of year, so no need to book a night in a Universal hotel. Even though the parks seem to be pretty quiet in Sept I think this may be worth it just to be sure of no queueing! :d:

Personally I would wait until you get in to the park before making a decision on buying a front of the line pass. If the park is busy they sell the FOTL passes inside at the shop in Marvel island at IOA and I'm sure at lots of other locations. We once bought the pass before we went in and then found the parks virtually empty.

Hope this helps

We always go this time and are going again 29 August. The Universal Parks are always quiet its great. We have never queued much even at the Disney Parks the longest we queued was 35 minutes for R and R Coaster which was our third go the other 2 were nearly walk ons.

Just noticed I got 3 mickeys whey hey.

we did 19th august - 2nd september, and definitely noticed the crowds die down towards the end of our holiday. Going first two weeks of august this year so not sure about the crowds during this time.

Have been mid September before and can confirm it is wonderfully quiet. We fly out on 29th August this year so are looking forward to a nice quiet time as well, HOWEVER please be aware that Labor Day weekend, which I think is 30th August to 1st Sept, will most likely be uber busy in the parks. What I'm told is after this all will go very quiet indeed.
