View Full Version : Please help a newbie with ticket confusion!!
There are so many different types of tickets its very confusing!!
These are the parks we would definately like to go to:
MGM studios
Epcot
magic kingdom
Universal studios
islands of adventure
We'd like to spend 2 days in each, which would work out the best value tickets for us?
Also is it better to buy them before you go or get them out there?

you do save money before you probably should look at magic your way tickets. you can add what you like or dislike.
we want to visit the same parks as you plus the waterparks and disneyquest so i am going to purchase the ten day magic your way tickets with waterparks and then add non expiry.
this means that you get 10 admissions into tyhe main park and ten for the water parks etc.
i am therefore planning to use prob
5 days for main parks
4 days for water parks.
i then have 5 days main and 6 days waterparks for the year after. bit more of an outlay for the non expiry but if you plan to go back will then save money as you will not have to buy disney tickets to go.

visit www.mapleleaftickets.com - they give you a good run down of what parks are covered by what tickets. :wavey:
For Universal, the 7 day tickets (http://secure.universalstudios.com/webstore/shop/ViewItems.aspx?Merchant=UOMainOnline&CategoryGroupExternalID=UOMainB&CategoryExternalID=UOTPTLiveB) are the best deal, they are $81 from Universal online.
For Disney, first of all I would suggest you also visit Animal Kingdom, I would definitely try it and maybe you will like it, maybe you won't, but if you don't try you won't know. And it won't cost you any extra.
2 days at the 3 parks you mention is 6 days. You have 2 choices, you can get a UK ticket which gives you access to all of Disney for 7 or 14 days. (http://www.floridatix.co.uk/walt-disney-world.asp) £153 for 7 days, £163 for 14 days. This includes all 4 parks, the water parks, Disney Quest - everything Disney has to offer for 7 or 14 days. You can park hop, which means one park in the morning, another in the afternoon, a third in the evening.
OR, if you don't think you will visit more than one park a day, you can go for Magic Your Way BASE tickets. (http://www.mapleleaftickets.com/disney_tickets.htm) There are lots of MYW optoins, but the base ticket is a very good buy. To get your 6 days, would cost $226.00, to get 7 days is only $228 hence why I suggest planning on at least a short visit to AK, for $2 extra it's worth trying it out. I would actually recommend 10 day base tickets which are $234.00, so only $8 more than the 6 day and if you get rained out, or tired, or just really love a certain park you will have the option to revisit a few.
If you go the base ticket option, you get 10 days at Disney (any 10 out of 14), plus 7 days at universal (7 consecutive) for around teh same price as the 14 day Ultimate ticket. What you lose is access to water parks, and park hopping privileges which may or maynot be important to you
To add to BevS97's post -- If you decide to buy the MYW, use the MS link for Undercovertourist to save a few dollars more.

Oh my god! - thanks Bev - :omg:
I have been doing Disney or Univ for years, not realizing I could have done both all the time for the same price :omg:
Tomnj - whats the ms link? :confused2
I have been battling in my mind which to choose at xmas either disney or Univ - cos I thought we couldnt afford to get both passes - now I know we can :spin:
I wont be using the waterparks anyway at that time of year, and we very rarely hop so it sounds perfect for us :thumbs-up

Ok, I found mousesavers and joined up for their free newsletter to get the link to cheaper tickets using Undercover tourist, but ......................now I have to wait til the 15th of the month to get the newsletter to find out how much their tickets are
Does anyone know how much a 10 day MYW base ticket is - no hopping or water parks using this method? :confused2

Just followed Bevs links, may consider doing the 7 day universal and the 10 day base all for the price of the 14 day ultimate Disney :thumbs-up
