View Full Version : Cassadaga
Has anybody ever been to Cassadaga? We went there in 1993 the first time we went to Florida. It is a small town north of Orlando in the middle of a swamp which is populated by spiritualists and psychics. So if you are into Derek Acora or John Edwards, etc, this is the place for you! You go into the local post office and all the people who are giving readings that day are listed next to the phone and you simply make an appointment with one of them and cross their palm with silver, well dollars. I had a reading when we went there which wasn't that spectacular, but then again neither has my life been since! Worth a visit if you are into that kind of thing and something different, but quite a drive. Here is a link.

This sounds really interesting. I was lucky enough to see John Edwards in Manchester, at one of three shows he did in the UK. He was fabulous.
I warn you though, when the article says "a short drive from Disney World" that translates as about a one hour drive north of Orlando.
Well done you've found a place in Florida I haven't been to and I've been to places a lot of Floridians don't know about. I'll have to go there. We like to go to places with odd names but I've just about recovered from the year I misread a town called soctrum (?) on the map - That one may have been in Georgia I'm not sure

hi
we usually go on the way to or from de leon springs. it is a dedicated spiritualist community. it used to be gated, the original stone pillars are still there. we love looking round but find it a bit weird and don't think i would risk a reading!

I actually have a friend who lives there and gives readings. A very interesting place to say the least. I've lived here for 30+ years and have never been myself (just not my thing) and you rarely hear it talked about. Everyone knows about it....just isn't really talked about much.

we would not have found it if we hadn't bought the "scenic routes in central florida" book. it takes you to some weird and wonderful places. :omg:

Not to hijack the thread but wanted to add that there is a book that features day trips on a tank of gas. You buy them based on the city you are staying in (I know Orlando, Tampa and St. Augustine have them). They really take you to some interesting areas. May not be the most thrilling but makes for a nice day out.
