Hi guys, sorry i have been absent for a while, but been rather busy new job ect......anyway
We have decided to give orlando a miss this year and treat ourselves to a jetset holiday
Mrs tiggermeister and I are off to Hawaii in september, but not a straight forward visit...lol as you will see in a sec and want to know one or 2 things...
We fly with USairways from manchester to phillidelphia and change...do we clear customs here do you think? or will it be in vegas? also when joining other flights internal, is there special provisions for internal holiday makers, ie not having to clear various custom gates again?
We then board a flight a few hours later to los vegas for an overnight stay then board another flight the next day to LA to do the parks there then a few days later board another flight to hawaii , again a few nights or 6 ...lol and do island hopping by , you guessed it flights...then when we finish up in honalulu we fly back Vegas for the last few nights to unwind, then boad another plane to phillidelphia, change then back home....so it looks like this below
uk-phiilidelphia
phillidelphia - vegas
vegas - LA
LA - hawaii
then
Hawaii - vegas
vegas - philli
philli-uk
we have prebooked seats online free, picked where we want to sit, it was brill, the different planes we will fly are
777, 767, 737, A319 and a few more to boot
thanks for looking

Wow, don't know the answer but it looks like an exciting holiday! Have fun.
Hi, we did a similar trip for our honeymoon 16 years ago and had a fantastic time, I hope you enjoy Hawaii, it is a beautiful place, although we only stayed on Oahu as DH doesn't like the smaller planes they use for island hopping.
You will have to clear customs in Philadelphia as this is your entry point into the US. You then collect your baggage and re-check it for your vegas flights before heading to the gate for your flight. How much time between flights do you have? They usually recommend at least 1.5 - 2 hours. As you are already airside you will not have to go through the main security again, although with post 9/11 security you may have to go through a bag screening at some point.
Your other flights will involve all the usual security procedures.
Have a great time.
Wow, sounds fantastic! It's a very similar itinerary to what DD and I want to do for her 21st Birthday in 3 years (she won't go to Vegas before she's 21!). I will be waiting to hear all about it, and please take lots of photos! :d:
Yes, you'll only have to clear immigration and customs in Philly. Everything else is domestic.
Curious. You were not able to get a direct Philly to LA flight? Or was it less expensive to do it as a R/T and add the separate LV to LA flight?
You must have done an awful lot of planning! LOL.
US Air definitely fly Philly to LA - seem to remember it was a sillyprice of about $95 last time I did it (mind you, this was when they were in Chapter11 so you had to bring your own aviation fuel and seat with you) :)
As other dibbers have said, you clear immigration and customs in Philly. We did a similar trip last year, Man - Philly - Phoenix - Honolulu. We stayed on Oahu for six nights then did a seven night cruise round the islands - absolutely fantastic. It's a good job it wasn't this year, as we flew Phoenix to Honolulu with ATA and they went bankrupt a few weeks ago.
Let me know if you want any info on Hawaii.

Depending on flights being on time, we should have a minimum of 3 hours perhaps more, so this is good to know

we spent 12 hours last sunday on the puter looking at flights and prices and cars and hotels, so just a bit ;)

we didnt want to do the whole leg non stop, by that i mean going to philly, change then LA, then change then on to hawaii something like 16 hours flying time so we decided to stop over one night in vegas and the price was better as well as daft as it sounds

funny you mention that, 2 months ago we were about to book all our flights internal with them, but i said to DW lets hold off a bit as we were also going to book aloha airways who also went chapter 10 around the same time despite a nice payout from another airline, but all our flights have been booked with a reputable company ...ie USAirways.
Hawaiian was far too expensive but IgoJet the new hawaiian internal leaders as bad a rep they have got, was well cheap, bad reviews on the seating being uncomfy ect, but he, we are only on 30 mins. and all thier flights are a min of twin engine jets
