Is it easy to get from International drive to st,Petes beach using public transport?

My one and only trip back in 1995 (think it was?) i stayed in the st, petes area and would love to go on a day trip there when we go next year.

You can do it via Greyhound buses but it will take about 7 hours to get there, considering it only takes about 1½ hours by car it sounds like a torturous route to me.

I looked at Greyhounds schedule and it wasnt pretty. You take a bus from Orlando to Tampa then another from Tampa to St Pete then you'll need to take a taxi to the beach. 2 hrs 35 minutes for bus trip each way is the quickest. Cost for refundable fare was about $93 for two people round trip. You'll also need a taxi to Orlando station. The non-refundable fare was $60 for 2 people.

Gator tours and viators do day trips to Clearwater Beach for less than $50 each.

I'm afraid renting a car for the day may be cheaper and easier.

I really wouldn't recommend that journey on a hot coach. This would be an idea time to hire a car for the day. What about a convertible?
You can then drive from International Drive right to the beach.

Sorry guys, we went by car, don't how else you could unless a coach/bus company goes that way. But on public transport, would it be worth it just for a day trip, why not stay over night, might be more worth the journey
