My DS(10) loved Rainforest Cafe in EuroDisney when we went 5 yrs ago and I'd like to take him to one at WDW this summer. Is there any difference between the one at AK and Downtown Disney? Are ADR's needed at both? And is there any alternative to phoning to make an ADR - apart from the cost I have a bit of a phone phobia and would prefer to do it online if I can.
Any advice appreciated as always.

Hi, we have been to both I like them both the same but have found the one at DTD is always busier. We turned up for a meal and had to wait an hour and half. Im not sure to be honest if you can book online but we ring and book now to make sure we are not waiting 2 hours lol.

If i was to choose out the two, it would be AK one. This is due to it not being as busy and the guy serving us was on top of his game. :pgig:

i would not go back to the DTD one. we had an awful meal there last year and it gets some really mixed reviews.

We went to the one at AK and had a wonderful time ;) Had to wait maybe 15 mins even though we had ADR's but that was acceptable.Love the theming of these restaurants and service was good :thumbs-up

We went to the one at DTD & it was a lunch time, so we got seated straight away the food was lovely however the service wasn`t great, we never go to try the one at AK, but maybe next time, we did go back one evening to be treated terribly so we left, vowing never to return

Been to both - in our case both at Lunch times - DTD was better than AK, I guess it's mainly down to how good your server is.

We couldn't get a table in the main resturant at DTD last year as the wait was around an hour and a half and we had seats booked at DTD cinema so couldn't wait. We ended up eating on the outside patio which was okay but I think we'll try the one in AK this year.

Thanks for advice. I was going to see if I could get ADR at the AK one (as that seems to have better reviews) but my brother-in-law isn't going to the parks with us and I assume you need to have a park ticket to get in. So I'm now considering DTD but it doesn't seem possible to do an ADR there - is that right or do they have a different booking system?

I don't think you have to have a park ticket to get in to the AK one as it has a separate entrance out the front (to the left of the park entrance). If I'm wrong then I'm sure someone will be on to correct me :)

I'm sure you can get into the RFC at AK without a theme park ticket as its out the front of the park, with entrances from both the park and the car park.

We've been to DTD a couple of times and have never been too impressed with the level of service there plus we've always had to wait a long while for a table.

This year we've booked at AK and looking forward to it.

RFC at AK is outside of the park entrance so you can go in without a park ticket, we had breakfast there while we were waiting for AK to open one time.

Thanks for the input - I'm going to phone tonight to see if I can get an ADR at AK Rainforest. We're going in June/July so not sure how much chance I've got but I did manage to get an ADR for the Fantasmic Dining Package at Mama Melrose's on the day I asked for when I phoned last night - OK well I did have to opt for 4.10 on 2 separate tables so its not perfect but hopefully we'll be able to get them to seat us on at least adjacent tables on the day. And then we can see more of the park before having to take out seats.:spin:

We went to the one at AK last July and is was half empty, even during a major thunderstorm. The theming is similar to the London one, the odd thunderstorm and noisy animals - even better when you have a real thunderstorm going on outside!

WE went to the one in DTD and we had to wait about 1.5 hrs for our table too. Which with two hungry children moaning wasnt much fun. But hey when in side the food was good and so was the theme. (but VERY VERY COLD!!!!!!!)

Well having decided to book the one at AK I actually phoned and made a reservation at the Downtown Disney one because in the end it seemed to fit in better with the schedule and the rest of my group. I had to call the restaurant direct but they took the booking - gave me a choice of times on the date I chose and gave me a booking number. But I'm slightly worried now that although they took my name they didn't ask for cc details and I'm not entirely convinced they actually asked how many people were in the party. I've got a bit of a phone phobia and was just so pleased with myself for actually making the call that I'm not sure I asked all the questions I should have done. But my sister was impressed I'd made a booking as she's simply asked on the door before and been offered a 2 hour wait and she didn't really believe that I could book in advance - I just hope its all OK otherwise I'll feel a bit stupid

We have been to both and they have both been fine, we go in September though so generally it seems to be quieter, both great experiences, and it's on our list to do this year too!

I personally preferred the one at Downtown Disney as it seemed to have more of an atmosphere than AK. We also made a lunchtime ADR at AK and they had no record of it when we arrived. DH said the ribs were much better at Downtown Disney too :)
