We have booked for May next year and want to get as much as possible out of it, it took ages to decide but in the end it was the best deal cheaper than the values:confused2.
So what should we do
kids activities
viewing areas
food

You did really well if you got AKL cheaper than the value resorts!
How did you manage that?
I loved the pool and the fire pit.
The night vision animal viewings were great, really knowledgeable keepers happy to answer all your questions.

We love it - we lived in Kenya for 3 years and visited loads of lovely safari lodges and Disney have themed AKL very well indeed. I love the firepit at night - very authentic - and the staff are quite knowledgeable - when we went there they had staff from Kenya which was even more authentic. The jacuzzi in the dark with a cocktail is a definite and we loved the "Boma" restaurant. You'll enjoy it:wavey:

We loved the pool and watching the animals when we stayed here. We also really loved Boma for Breakfast and Dinner. Just sitting in the amazing lobby is great too! :)

It is a fantastic hotel:thumbs-up - you will have a great time there.
There's just so much to experience -the rooms (esp Savannah view) are nice, the corridors you walk to get anywhere have lovely native artwork and decor, the people are so interesting and storytelling is superb. The pool is lush, Boma does such an interesting breakfast, no matter what time day or night we went out on our balcony there were any number of birds and animals outside, the entrance lobby is lovely to just sit and people watch - and I could have spent hours just in the gift shop:d:

All of it? :)
How about stepping out onto the balcony first thing in the morning to see Giraffes and Ankole cattle walking by? The lobby is amazing. I loved visiting the various outlooks to see the different bits of the savanah.
Sitting on the balcony early mornings with a coffee and muffin reading US today while the animals grazed. The pool is good, the lobby is good to sit in.

I have never stayed in AKL but have visited on a few occasions.
We have been to Bomas both for dinner and breakfast. They were both wonderful. The coconut curry seafood stew is a must try.
We have toured the outdoors and it is beautiful. The staff are engaging and offer so much more then what you ask. The tribal art is a must see in the lobby. Beautiful works of art for your enjoyment.
The architecture is amazing and something to see in it self. Disney has out done themselves here for certain.

The pool at AKL is great plenty of room, the food court has a good selection, the view across the savannah from your room and the fire pit. Stayed there 3 times really nice resort.

Everything!! When we went the cast of Hannah montanna were staying there as this apparently is their resort of choice, we got to meet Rico and Oliver which was great for my DD. Staff are so helpful and friendly. Even the food in the fast food restaurant Mara was nice and it was nice to have an option. Swimming after the parks was great, the pool is quiet but well lit and you can hear the flamingos. Views from the balconys are amazing as is just wandering around at night. We loved every minute there, just sorry we had to leave.

One of my work colleagues asked me yesterday what the best part of my holiday was. My answer - the view from our room!
It seems silly to think of the best part of a trip to Florida being the view from a hotel room but you really can't beat coming back from a day at the parks to sit on your balcony and watch several animals roaming around.

wE HAVE JUST RETURNED AND THIS WAS THE VIEW FROM OUR ROOM.We used savannah view DVC points to overlook a building site and to be woken up by construction lorries rather than birdsong !:
Avoid Arusha savannah at all costs

We are heading out for our first DVC holiday at AKL, are there any other areas we should try to avoid so that we can see the giraffes and not some hairy bottomed construction worker ?:cry:
