Sadly there won't be any Shuttle launches whilst we're in Florida at end of June - my sister saw one in Jan and said it was fab. However I've discovered that there is a launch of a Delta rocket from Cape Canaveral at 12pm on 30th June. I've found a list of possible viewing sites on the Patrick Air Force Base site but what I really wanted to know is whether you would be able to see anything from KSC? And if so which part of the KSC complex would you need to be in? Has anyone here viewed a Delta launch? Is there much to see particularly with a day time launch?

Saw one go up in 2002 watched it from the saturn 5 center bit crowded but really good to see and if you have a camera with a good zoom on it you can get some good photo's
just a pity there are no launches when we are there would love to see a shuttle go up before they finish flying

I would also be really interested to know if you can see this from KSC. We hope to see this launch while we are there and i though KSC would be the best view but if you can see just as well for free from the beach i may save my money!:)

We were are KSC a few weeks ago on the now and then tour (which is very good btw!)
If is thhe delta rocket on the launch pad, then its the biggest rocket to date, its actually two deltas strapped together, the cargo is the size of the tour bus!
Its a mega money launch and they said because of the risk they would extending the 3 mile perimeter.

If you view from KSC you don't get a view of the rocket until it clears the trees, however if you go to Port Canaveral you have a clear view across water to the launch pad, but it is an extra half maile away.
The link below takes you to a page with recommended sites for each type of rocket launch.

I'm sure we'll still find plenty to see at KSC anyway.
