Interested to find out from Dibbers their views on both supermarkets. What do you prefer and why?
We are at staying at the Boardwalk and would also like to know which is the nearest?
Can't say which is the nearest although Publix are everywhere. I love Publix because it's smaller, more personal service and seems better quality. Walmart is like a massive version of ASDA :)

Agree with above..
Publix is like M&S Food Quality.
The fruit section has as very very good choice and there hand made subs to order are good value and far better than subway :d::d:
:wave:not sure were the nearest ones are to you but I prefer Walmart as they have such a big selection of goods and prices are great, Publix is good to though and their cinnamon buns are delicious:tounge::wave::pd

For food shopping much prefer Publix. We were in Orlando last year for Christmas and cooked Christmas Dinner at the Villa and bought everything for dinner at Publix.
For everything else besides food it has to be Walmart.

For food Publix everytime for us.
Walmart we don't like for food, not really a fan of it for much, last year we bought a few bits but I find things are just as cheap at home, wanted a memory card, Walmart was $30+tax. Play.com £10 free delivery to my door. I am sure some things are cheaper but I have never found them.
We are not into shopping at all though, we only go for what we need and out asap.

OMG we have been to Orlando 3 times and never been to Publix (not that I can remember but I do recall going to a small supermarket at the Mercado Centre back in 2000, perhaps that was Publix?)
I have heard of Publix but because Walmart was so handy we just kept going there. Will def hunt out Publix this time.

I prefer Publix for a food shop as the quality is much better although if you want toiletries and baby stuff them Walmart works out better value.

publix is much better for food especially their fresh fruit and veg. agree with other dibber publix is nicer and more helpful than walmart.
Publix is better for general grocery shopping i'd say, plus their chicken tenders subs are awesome!

Another vote for Publix here too
Walmart is good for lots of wee nick nacks and stuff but Publix for food wins hands down.
Hi,
We prefer Publix. The food is a lot nicer than Walmart, but walmart in monetary terms is cheaper ( if that's what you prefer ).
Our american friend tells me that I should buy fruit and veg from the road side stalls as it has a lot more flavour and is considerably cheaper ( have not tried it yet, but will have a go when I go in July this year )

Unless you want a particular supermarket, there's a Goodings (expensive) at Crossroads and a Wynn Dixie a little beyond Crossroads (if coming from the I4 direction). We used the Wynn Dixie a few times for water etc - don't know how it survives, it's a bit hidden and there never seemed to be more than a couple of people in there.

Looks like another vote for Publix:grin:The only time we've been in Walmart was quite late one night - can't even remember why - over the tannoy came a call asking for someone needing help in the "Firearm aisle":confused2 needless to say we nipped out rather quickly!!

yep another vote for publix ,good food and you can get round the shop in under an hour where as wallmart would take hours but we still like it there for their nonfood items,i bought a birthday cake for dd last year from publix and it was massive, tasted lovely and less than £5 and they even decorated it with her name e.t.c that was free, will be getting her another next year.

Another vote for Publix for food.
Walmart is an experience that we always try to do at least once a trip, but for daily items, Publix is the one for us.
I agree with the cinammon buns at Walmart though. Maybe that's why I put on a considerable amount of weight on last year's holiday. The healthy breakfasts out on the balcony of cereal and fruit juice followed by a bowl of fruit salad and finally a big mug of coffee with a cinammon bun. Mmm, that could very well be the reason :o:

imo if you take the food section alone of walmart and compare it to Publix I think they have more choice.
but for everything else its Walmart .. goggles, airbeds, snorkles, torches, blow up balls, toys, games etc etc etc
also after comparing birthday cakes Publix ones win hands down!!

The Walmart is very convenient. The nice thing about it is that they have good Disney merchandise much cheaper than the parks.

We used Pubix when we stayed on I drive as it was just across the road from our hotel. We found it had everything we needed for our supplies of juice, crisps, toiletries etc, however the 2nd week we moved to the villa and it was Walmart for us. Walmart is a days shopping in itself. It depends what you are looking for. Publix for bits and bobs and def Walmart for picking up those bargins to take home.

For food, snacks etc I would probably pick publix - nice quality.
For everthing else - Walmart

WALMART - we find it cheaper and has more of a variety. We love it and don't bother going to Pulix anymore.
I hate Walmart with a passion. I find the food much poorer quality than Publix and will not be going back. Any of the pile 'em high sell 'em cheap goods that they stock, I can find in any of the malls for a similar price or just a little more. For me its worth paying a slightly higher price so that I dont have to make that journey ever again.

We paid our first visit to Walmart last year and wasn't impressed, I couldn't find anything for a start. Much prefer the layout and the quality of Publix.

Is there a Publix's near to the Formosa Gardens area?
Can you get a full shop there? (food, toiletries, beer & wine etc)

Yes there are two along that part of the 192, I think one is at Orange Lake and another one a bit further along. Within a 5 minute drive of Formosa anyway.
You can get everything food and toiletries wise, and I'm sure there is beer and wine.

Thanks for your reply,
Think we will visit Publix for our supplies, looking at your countdown we might see you there.
