View Full Version : Disney Photopass Sharing

Hi Guy's,
In recent weeks there have been some threads and concerns over Members combining their Disney Photopasses onto one CD.

Bozza contacted Disney and received a reply which some jumped on as being the definitive rules, but I read it as ambiguous as it didn't really give a positive answer.

It annoyed me that a couple of members even started having a go at one of our moderators because she quoted Disney's own "Terms and Conditions" which seemed to suggest that sharing photopasses wasn't breaking their copyrights.

I contacted Disney myself and received a reply that totally contradicted Bozza's reply.

Anyway after 4 separate emails, asking to speak to a higher authority or the legal department, and asking them to either give me a definitive reply or tell me if other Disney sites are breaking their copyright, I finally received a reply that makes it clear where Disney stand on this issue.

At the time we removed posts and threads from the DIBB referring to photopass sharing as we were not sure of the copyright issues ourselves.

However now that our Moderator has been vindicated in her response here and the fact that we now have a clear response from Disney I am happy to allow photopass sharing threads here on the DIBB or at least until Disney change their stand on this.

Greetings Stu,

Disney's PhotoPass Service does not recommend that guests share their PhotoPass IDs with anyone outside of their immediate travel party for several reasons. We believe that guests should claim their own images for security reasons and so that they may enjoy all of the image enhancement and product features available on the website. Furthermore, combining PhotoPass IDs into a single account may cause the website to respond extremely slowly due to the high number of images in the account
and we want each of our users to have a positive website experience.

That being said, Disney's PhotoPass Service does not, at this time, explicitly forbid guests from combining their PhotoPass IDs in a single account. However, this policy is currently being reviewed with our legal team and is subject to change at any time.

Sincerely,

Deborah

IS nothing ever too much trouble for you Stu ? lol!

Thank you for the clarification (not that it personally applied to myself) but hope it now puts to bed the point and dismisses the need for people to get embroiled into unpleasantness.

Sorry, having a blonde moment. I don't get it....didn't see the thread your are talking about.

So does it mean that our party of 33 family & friends going out in September can all use the same photopass ?

Yes, you just need to add all the photopass card numbers onto the one account.

'course you can. What you can also do is add some complete strangers and let them see your photos too. And you see theirs!

I seem to remember Bozza, you have posted photos of your DD here before, so why is that different to sharing a photo CD?? Anyone could have right clicked it, saved it to their hard drive and did whatever they pleased with it - the same as they can for the gadzillion other pics of everyone's kids on here.

Now, stop stirring and go away from these photo pass threads....;)

I'm not saying it is any different am I?

The poster was unclear, by their own admission, of the what Stu's post was authorising people to do.

It is if you pre order here (http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx). I'm not sure how long the code they send in the email is valid for though!!!

90 days officially I think, but they'll gladly extend it/send you another by all accounts.

Thanks for the research Stu, that's good news for a lot of folks here.

Now, can we have opinions on whether it's OK to share the costs of buying Bozza a wooden spoon? ;)

(yeah, I know - kettle, pot, black...)

Think I'll close this now, I don't think the discussion here is helping anything!

The important details are in the first post!
