I have a HD ready tv and am a bit confused. If a programme is shown in HD how do you know ? Also do you have to alter the settings on you tv to view it in HD ?
thanks mel

Have you got a HD sky box? If you haven't then your not watching in HD.
You will need a hi-Def box from Sky to watch Hd TV to be fair other than the sports channels the rest aren't that great at the moment.
The move channels are just upscaled an dnot true 720p/1080p picture!
You'll be better off buying a Blue Ray player and watching hi-def films like that:).
Also you'll need a HDMI lead to connect the dvd player/ Sky box to your LCD / Plasma. This is the only lead that carries true HD signal.
Scott.
If you haven't got Sky HD you aren't watching in HD! Only other way is to buy either a Blu-Ray or a cheap HD-DVD (now discontinued) player and getting some hi-def films to watch.

Thanks guys .. didn't want to miss out on anything.
Just to add to that, Virgin cable also carry a limited HD selection (mainly BBC HD and some films) and freesat will also be carrying HD content sometime soon.
Andre
Freesat is already showing some BBC HD content, isn't it?

So they are! To be honest, I didn't know they'd started broadcasting at all yet.
