View Full Version : If you were really going to splash out.....

Just wondered, we're in the process of trying to agree on going next year. We'd love to do 4 nights in a Disney Resort to end the holiday in style.
If you were going to splash out and stay in a deluxe hotel resort, which one would you pick ?
We went for a meal in the Yacht Club year and loved it. It's on the boardwalk, you can walk to Epcot and they have an outdoor movie theater at night.
Obviously it's expensive, but seeing as how we're thinking about splashing out , has anyone else stayed in the big resorts. The Grand Floridian looks lovely and I've always like the look of the Contemporary.
Any thoughts....

I would love to stay at the Poly!:o: I am also very fond of the Yacht and Beach Club.:o:
But if I had the pick one for a one off luxury I would choose the Poly.
OK, the most luxurious resort is the Grand Floridian, on top of that, if you really want to do it in style, stay in a Royal Palm Club room which is club level in the main building, it's fantastic :)
Yacht Club is lovely as well (opt for a water view room if you can), and it's bang in the heart of things.
Alternatively the Boardwalk Inn is a fabulous resort, very whimsical and much smaller - the Inn side only has around 350 rooms and is very 'quiet' but still in the heart of things once you step outside. Boardwalk view rooms are great, you can sit on your balcony overlooking the night entertainers.
Very hard choice but if I were choosing out of the above 3, I would opt for the Boardwalk Inn, Boardwalk view - plus the rooms are being refurb'ed this year, starting in a couple of months time - and you can always wander over to the Yacht Club to watch the movies :)

I'd like to stay at the Poly again but tbh I think I'd chose 4 nights at HRH rather than a Disney hotel now (well mygirls definitely would!)

It's a hard choice really, I've recently started to like the look of the Contemporary and have always wanted to stay at the Boardwalk, but if I had to choose one to stay in it would be the Poly with a castle view room. It looks a fantastic place and can't wait to have a look about on our next trip.

Got to be the Boardwalk or Yacht/Beach Club - I just love the location and the atmosphere in this area. Apart from the fact that you can walk to 2 parks!!
We've been to the Grand Floridian for meals a few times and it just does nothing for me at all.

We stayed at the Polynesian concierge and it was fabulous!!! Even my hard to please DH absolutely loved it and he doesnt usually go in for anything expensive. We are thinking of adding a couple of nights here in Dec as we loved it so much.
We were spoilt from arrival when the VIP cart was summoned and we were whisked round on a tour of the resort on that. FOUR bell boys helped us out of the car with our stuff - kids thought it was so funny!! As soon as I said we were checking into Concierge it was like a whole new world opened up :D .Kids were given leis, buckets and spades and chocolates when we arrived at the building. In the concierge lounge there was a fridge full of cokes, water and juice, plus a selection of nibbles. This overlooked the lagoon and the castle - sheer heaven! The room was massive and we had a lovely balcony.
The concierge never failed to get us anything we wanted, including meal reservations, MNSSHP tickets, Illuminations Cruise. We got anniversary cards and other gifts in the room
Total heaven - if you want to be spoilt, there is no other choice on property in my opinion!! We like look of the Yacht Club concierge too, which we will try one day!
We are staying at the Poly garden view room in September. Will be staying at YC concierge next year.

Well having stayed at The Beach Club, I would go for the Poly next as it's so tranquil there, plus on the monorail.
What park do you like best?

I would love to stay at the Poly
Its Beach Club every time for us. The fabulous pool and the location - right outside the back door to our favourite park- clinch it for us every time!!!!!

Same here :thumbs-up with the Poly a close second. A MK view Tower room; sitting on your balcony watching Wishes is my ideal of heaven.

I loved staying at Wilderness Lodge and am really looking forward to trying the Poly next trip BUT for me, I always would now like to end my WDW stay at the Yacht Club - definitely go for the waterview (lake not pool) view - so magical waking up to see that and the resort area coming to life. At night seeing the Boardwalk all lit up is great too.
The resort is so lovely and it never seems crowded even when they have a convention on. The pool is the best on Disney property and it has the Yachtsman Steakhouse too.
AND you can walk to Epcot (like to see Illuminations the last night) and Hollywood Studios if you want to. So close to DTD as well. Just THE perfect location for me.

Some great replies, thanks for them all. I'm really supprised no-one has come on and said how great the Grand Floridian is, it looks amazing, but I'm never really considered the Poly before.

The Grand Floridian is a stunning resort :) I'd recommended the Royal Palm Club (main building) in my post - it was very luxurious (food in the lounge was the best so far of any concierge resorts I've stayed at), but without being stuffy. The main building concierge is like a mini resort, the whole of the building is concierge level and there's lovely seating areas to relax in whilst listening to the band play below sipping champagne (free!). Some rooms have direct views of the Castle as well.
Would I stay there again? Absolutely yes without a doubt :)
