Can anyone suggest a nice beachfront hotel on the gulf coast in between Clearwater and Sarasota that 4 adults and 2 young children could go to for a couple of nights.

We like the Marriot Suites on Sandkey in Clearwater. Great location and nice to haver the extra space a suite has

I agree - the Marriott Suites on Sand Key are very nice and have a good kids' club.

The rooms are very spacious with a separate two double bed bedroom and sleeper sofa in the lounge which has a small kitchenette including fridge, microwave etc.

The balcony's look out over the intercoastal waterways, which are often more interesting than the ocean (gulf) - you get lots of sightings of dolphins, pelicans and stingrays.

The beach itself if over the road- you sinply walk down the side of the Sheraton Sand Key hotel. Beautiful, large, quiet beach:grin:

There is a wooden boardwalk from the hotel along to a number of little shops and restaurants - you wouldn't really need to leave the hotel and immediate area, but if you want to the Clearwater trolley bus stops at the hotel.

We've stayed at the Grand Plaza - the round hotel on St Pete Beach - which has nice enough rooms, all with water views.

We've also stayed at the Sirata and Tradewinds hotel at St Pete Beach, both ideal for a couple of nights.

We love the area further south - Naples, Marco Island, Ft Myers, but if you're only going for a couple of days would stick around the Clearwater or St Pete Beach areas.
