Most should work, they generally plug into the usb socket on your pc, so as long as it is not too old and has spare usb sockets I think you should be ok.
I was reading somewhere (lost it now) about usb 1 or usb 2 and some wont work on usb 1............not that I have a clue which I have

USB 1 is only relevant for VERY old pcs. My kids use a 10 year old PC which is USB 1, but anything reasonably modern will be fine.

4 years isn't old, hehe, i own a 12 year old pc and its still running strong (all bit it slow and crappy xD but i own a laptop so its spare.)
Any router, should in theory work, but if it doesnt when you get home you could allways take it back and try a different one. Belkin Do quiet good routers
