I went to wild jacks as well, back in 99, and several visits to Orlando since and I've still not managed to find somewhere as good as there for steak. Outback is about the closest I've found to it.

We ventured out to Manny's this year - easy 20-25 min run from LBV - and I certainly had the best steak there of the trip.
DW's was cooked more medium well than medium and the waiter immediately agreed and offered to replace it - she said no as it really wasn't a problem. When he brought the bill, he'd deleted the entire cost of her meal, and wouldn't hear of putting it back on.

Was fantastic for steaks but alas it has now gone  I have got to choose a replacement for next holiday but where can you get a Blackened Fillet Mignon with a Cluster of Crab legs that isn't a Fish restaurant ... nowhere that I have found  I will also miss their salad and their Avalanche :cry::cry:
reading this thread with interest .. though I will never step foot in Charleys Steakhouse on I drive..
Longhorns and mannys Chophouse are on my list but Longhorns has never been as consistently good as MMC :( have yet to try mannys

Outback is good, so is Yachtsman, but one of the best we had was at Tchoup chop. For excellent steak you can also go to Ruth Chris

We enjoy the Outback because of the seasoning they use. Have eaten in a number of Outbacks around Florida and never had a bad meal. Yet to try Manny's.

Didn't go in - but the Magic Mining certainly looked open - albeit keeping funny hours (the sign was lit up most evenings -except Sundays).
Shelley - why didn't you like Charleys on I Drive? We went and the worst thing that happened to us was the fact that we were so underdressed we were cringing. Everybody seems to dress for dinner these days - whatever happened to casual dining? Anyway, we have visited various Charleys since 1988 and we have never ever been disappointed. This was no exception either. The meal was fabulous and the steak was probably the best we had ever had from any of our previous visits. We were treated to a taster of the lobster bisque which I would have chosen (it was soooo dreamy) but for the fact that it came with practically half a lobster in it. We know how big the portions are and we decided against starters. The entire meal was wonderful - even our teens ate all their veggies. The price was around $300 for 4 mains, 2 desserts, salads, wine and soda. But we left it till the end of the hols so we knew we had enough money! It even cost more than our fantastic California Grill meal!

Ha ha, this happened to us, I wanted the ground to open and swallow us up!!!! But i do have to say the meal was lovely, pricey but lovely, for 2 adult mains and 2 kids it was about $160, We didn't stay for pudding we just wanted to get out of there.... :d: :d:

Uno's on I'Drive. Also Outback, Bennigans and Black Angus:thumbs-up
Wild Jack's was the WORST dining experience we have ever had. :mad2:Would never step foot back in that place. :nonono:
Thanks to "these lot" on the Dibb, we tried Mannys (down the US27 south past WalMart) for the first time on our trip a few weeks ago.
WELL worth the trip - truely fantastic food, at an unbelievably cheap price!! The place was VERY busy, with a 30 minute wait by 6pm (it only opens at 4 I think?). A great atmosphere, staff were excellent.
PLEASE try it - you wont be dissapointed!
Thanks to all who reccommended it to us!!:thumbs-up
p.s. We also love Black Angus, very tasty steaks, but the restaurant is a bit "dark" for us really.:confused2
another vote for outback.cant wait to go back there this year.:spin:

i can almost taste that blooming onion

Well since you're all talking about this bloomin' onion I just had to google it to find out what on earth it was.
You probably don't want to know this, so if you're of a nervous disposition, look away now....according to Wikipedia, "The egg wash and deep frying preparation process of the Blooming Onion makes it massively caloric. A single Blooming Onion with dressing has been reported as containing 2210 calories and 134 grams of fat." :omg: :omg: :omg:
YIKES - can't wait to try one! :D
We'd recommend Shula's Steak house 48oz steak very yummy. I have posted a picture in the food thread below.

So many nicer starters than a deep friend onion. :erm:
Manny's Chophouse, bar none.
Ate here a couple of weeks ago, everyone voted it as the best meal all holiday, even my vegetarian mother.
The atmosphere and service was excellent. The food was out of this world, never had a steak like it and the salad bowl was amazing.

Can anyone explain the filet mignon, i have had loads of different types but never came accross this one,,
I have had the usual, rump, sirloin, fillet, porterhouse, ribeye.
Looking at some menus it is a small piece of expensive meat,, whats special about it as i have ADRs at Le Cellier and the Yachtsman Steakhouse

My favourite is the signature filet mignon at Le Cellier. I'm not a huge steak fan but I could live on this.

I thought it was just the American term for our Fillet. We say Fillet they say Fillet Mignon
From Wikipedia
The same cut of beef can also be called:
French: chateaubriand, tournedos, filet de bœuf. (In France, though beef "filet mignon" exists, the word doesn't usually refer to beef, but instead to a tender and expensive cut of pork.)
English (US): medallions, tenderloin steak
English (UK & Ireland): fillet steak
Argentina: Bife de Lomo
Brazil: Filé Mignon
