Does anyone recomend this? I would love to hear about it - and which restaurant is it in and the approximate cost! Thanks

Absolutely. It's at the Grand Floridian hotel in the Garden View Lounge. It is very genteel - sandwiches, cakes, scones. I think it's about $24 for a set tea, but you can buy off the al a carte menu too.

We had afternoon tea at the Garden View Tea Room in The Grand Floridian last month. It was lovely sitting listening to the pianist while we were served a selection of sandwiches(no crusts of course!),a choice of pastries or scones and clotted cream and followed by strawberries and cream or english trifle. Not to mention the dozens of different teas to try, all served on Royal Albert Old Country Roses china and a tea cosy over the teapot.A glass of champagne each was also included. There were several different menu combinations to choose from or you could pay for individual items. The menu we choose cost $25 each and we will be definately be doing it again next visit.

I think you can just turn up but it quite small so is advisable to book. We only booked a couple of days in advance.

and another thumbs up:thumbs-up:thumbs-up
like jane's description of very genteel:thumbs-up fits it nicely, we did it last year, IMO well worth a visit, we booked, but there were empty tables when we were there, so obviously booked at a quiet time. it was around 3o'clock when we were there. but it is smallish, so booking would be a better option.

What's the dress code? Smart casual, ie skirts and smartish trousers, rather than "park attire"? :)
Thanks

Yes you can take your kids mine came they were 3 and 7 at the time, they enjoyed it but were on their best behaviour!I don't think they would ask to go again, but me and DH will do it ourselves when they are at the neverland club.I can't remember excactly what the kids ate but they certainly enjoyed what was on offer.:wavey: :wavey:

They have a special children's menu so children are definitely catered for :) It's only a small 'restaurant' and there's usually more adults than children but I've seen children there on each trip, usually dressed smartly (the little girls normally wearing dresses) and with impeccable manners (it's a pretty 'quiet' experience). Only once saw a child throw a hissy fit and the mother was asked to leave - I think mainly because it's quite a subdued setting but was all handled very discreatly.

I took my Mum there last year and we didn't really care for it. We felt the sandwiches were pretty poor but the trifle was delicious :d: I'm glad we tried it but wouldn't want to go again.

I think we shall definately try it - though with 3 kids we might just manage tea and buns!

The people that were there at the same time as us were dressed in a variety of clothes from 'park attire' to smart casual tho I think it was a nice chance to dress up a little.
