View Full Version : Help - how do i get free dining and the 14 day ticket?
I'm looking to book a two week holiday in September direct with the US so that i can get the free dining plan, however i'm limited with my ticket options for the parks - i want to just Disney for the entire trip.
I'm aware that some of the regulars on this board have got the free plan direct form the US - so what do you do about the tickets?
Should i get a one day ticket direct then buy the 14 day ultimate over here?
In order to get free dining you have to book Disney accommodation and tickets together in a package.

The 14 day ultimate tickets are not available in the US, they are UK only tickets. How may days do you actually want to be in the parks? If it is the full 14 days then yes, get a 1 day base ticket but hen buy your 14 day ultimates over here. However, i is worth looking at the other tickets to see how much what you want would cost, it may come to less the ultimate tickets.

Yes, You can that. Or get a 10 day Magic your way with water parks inc. Work out both ways and see which is cheaper. The 10 day MYW expire 14 days after the first day you use them.

You can get the free dining by just buying a 1 day MYW ticket. Then you just buy a 14 day ultimate ticket from a different UK ticket agent. You can use your MYW ticket for your first day or last day (as you are really there for 15 days) or just dont use it. Worth it for free dining.

So if you buy a one day disney ticket in the US you can get the free disney dining? Is that correct?
Right then, well i decided to go for the one day base ticket and then get the ultimate pass from over here.
Just to give some background, we'd already booked our resort and tickets via the UK based DTC about a week ago. Then i checked this site and spotted info about the free dining plan - i was aware this was available to our US friends but never read about UK guests getting it. I checked with DTC as to whether they could offer it and they advised that i'd have to book the holiday via their US partners, they also very kindly said that if i did this and then provided them with confirmation, that they would give me a FULL refund - i guess as long as Disney get my cash they're quite happy to be accomodating.
So, at midnight yesterday i booked me the holiday with free dining and instead of getting a refund from the UK DTC, i'll just use the money towards our 14 day ultimate passes.
All i need now is flights.
So far the holiday (2 adults & 1 4yr old) has cost me £780 for accomodation and food, £475 for tickets, plus whatever the flights cost. Happy days.
Thanks for the responses!!!
Don't forget to book your ADR's for your table service meals.
I had trouble getting some restaurants at 180 out :omg:

You can get the Free Dining Plan if you book a room and park tickets (from 1-10 days) for each person on the booking - during the specified dates.
You're kidding!!! We're going between Sept 18th and Oct 2nd. I was hoping that with us arriving at the end of the offer period and staying for two weeks at a supposedly 'quiet' period we wouldn't have trouble with ADR's???
I've always loved planning for the days and parks, but this dining plan adds a whole new dimension to things!!!
Where have you had trouble booking Kim?

The restaurants are very busy at that time due to Food and Wine being on, you do need to book your ADR's sooner rather than later.
We're going the 14th sep - 4th oct
I had to phone bang on 180 days out to get Le Cellier and then I couldn't get the day I wanted....In fact I couldn't get a resevation till the 21st.
I managed to get them all in end .....but I had to be flexible with my times.

I guess i know what i'm doing this evening!!!
My only priority as far as ADR's go is to get the Whispering Canyon for the evening of the 25th - it's the other half's birthday. Am also quite keen to get Ohana for our first morning - what better way to introduce our 4yr old son to WDW than take him for a character brekkie and then a trip on the monorail to the Magic Kingdom!!!

Please, please, please make as many adr's as you can as the restuarants are all extremely busy during the free dining period! Some restuarants don't accept any walk ups during free dining so you really do need to book asap!

We had free dining last year and there were numerous couples who thought they would just be able to turn up at any resteraunt and get a meal, unfortunatly it did not work out for any of them, and there were lots of unhappy people in August in pop centrury, who just could 'nt get a table meal anywhere for the whole of there stay.
Luckily being a member of this board I booked every meal and character breakfast as soon as I could make the adr's,and found that even some of the americans had come unstuck ,one got rather shirty when we went in for dinner at cinderellas castle booked in February I said!to help the poor girl he was shouting at.
The moral is book every meal,I know you may want flexibility, but the free meals attract bumper crowds to every resteraunt, and it ruins your holiday if you can not use this freebie effectively and have to settle for counter service or worse still, pay for a meal elsewhere.
hope this helps,;)

Please can you explain how I do this, it sounds great.
I've already booked my flights and accomodation at POR for Aug 09. I haven't yet booked my park tickets as I'm still trawling through all the fab posts on here!:D
So, am I right in thinking that I can book a 1 day park ticket for each of us and then get free DDP for the duration of my holiday or is it more complex than this. Sorry for being so dim, but it just seems to good to be true.
TIA

Free Dining is at present only available through US Disney, so you will only be able to add it if you've booked your accommodation through Disney.com! It is also only available for certain dates starting (i think) the last week in August!

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought it would've been too good to be true! I will remember that for future reference though:D
