DW and I are hoping to go to New York for our birthdays in October and i thought while we were there we could go to the theatre.
Has anyone purchased tickets for a Broadway show from the UK or do you wait until you get there?
any advice would be good
thanks
Adam
If you are not bothered what show you see then I would suggest waiting and picking up tickets at the TKTS booth in Times Square - some shows can be seen for half price :d:
If you have a particular show in mind then its probably best to book in advance, especially if its a popular one.
We used www.telecharge.com and found them to be very good, just print off the confirmation and collect tickets from the Box Office when it opens.

I do want to see the little mermaid so i may need to book in advance.
It would be nice if Disney announced that it was coming to London as the ticket prices seem to be so high in New York

If you want to see a Disney show you can purchase them direct from Disney on Broadway and we found that was the cheapest place to buy tickets.
We saw the Lion King last year and it was amazing.

Definately book in advance. TLM had 96% attendance last week. In fact, it may already be "sold-out" for this year.
That being said the show received poor reviews from NY critics. Children probably enjoy it. Whether its worth shelling out $120 each is a personal decision.

The women (DM,DW & DD) all loved The Little Mermaid, I was struggling to keep awake - the songs were sooooo boring, but if you like the songs from the film you'll be ok!. The costumes & scenery are amazing though. Couldn't seem to find an ice cream in the interval - very dissappointed!

We weren't fussed about which show we saw, so we went to the TKTS booth in Times Square. We got bargain-priced tickets to see 'Beauty and the Beast', and had an excellent time!
You have to check in advance what time it opens and get there sharpish - also, it was cash-only when we went, so make sure you've got a wodge with you! There was quite a choice when we went but we had our three kids with us, so some shows were more suitable than others.
Enjoy!

Just back from New York and saw Gypsy. What a show!!!
I ordered the tickets from Telecharge before we went and printed off e-tickets - never had any problem with attendance, in fact even US people had the e-tickets.

We've been three times to the theatre in NY. Twice we've just bought tiockets whilst there direct from the theatre- Beauty and the Beast and Aida. Then when we went on a different occasion I booked through ticketmaster for Hairspray as I wanted premium seats. I think it all depends on what you fancy watching and what type of seats you want. If you want a more popular show its worth booking in advance.
On our first trip we booked tickets for The Little Mermaid through Ticketmaster and collected the tickets at the theatre. Fantastic show although must admit DH nearly fell asleep:blush: We also got tickets for Hairspray at the TKS booth. Just five rows from the front but at the side.
On our trip a few weeks ago we again bought tickets from TKS for Mamma Mia. We were told at the booth that they were at a side and that we could miss anything on the right hand side of the stage. To be honest there was only one bit where we could not see what was going on.
If you want a particular show and good seats then definitely book before you go. If you are happy to queue up on the day and take your chance for half price tickets then it is well worth it.
Full price tickets are expensive.
