Hi All

2 friends and I are planning on going to Miami for 5 nights in May 09. Just wanted to know if anyone can suggest a good hotel, we want to stay in South Beach as central as we possibly can. We want to be really close to all the bars, restaurants and shops.

Any help or advice would be really gratefully recieved!

we have just been to Miami, and we stayed at The Albion hotel, which is just off of Lincoln Road, we got a free upgrade on arrival to a Junior Suite which was HUGE and very funky, only a block to the beach and really close to loads of shops and restaurants.

However, really really like the look of The Strand Ocean Drive
http://www.thestrandoceandrive.com/ and this is right in the heart of all the action, you can get a really good deal on alpha rooms

We used the Mandarin by Oriental - bit pricey but very nice.

We had a week at The Park Central (http://www.theparkcentral.com/), Ocean Drive. Great smallish art deco period hotel with lovely staff. Fab cocktail bar attached, free beach towels & loungers. Rooftop open air cinema on certain nights. Very close to the News Cafe for people watching & food. Across the road to the beach, shopping the street behind! Lincoln Road Mall area about 5 blocks stroll down the art deco area. Well recommended.
