dont know about Dublin but I flew Easyjet to Budapest recentlt and for the first time I checked cabin luggage only.
I dont think I'd do it again because you have to get everything out, pack it in clear bags, repack it again etc all whilst standing in a queue. It saves time at the luggage collection but I think id rather just send it all through th hold its easier. Also they took a few things off us as they were over 100ml.

Yes, you need to put ALL your gels, liquids, aerosols and pastes into a clear re-sealable bag (ziplock sandwich bag basically). No container must be above 100ml and the whole lot cannot exceed 1 litre.
Make sure you pop your zip lock bag on the top of your bag as then its easy to get out for screening at security.
You can take straighteners, hair dryers ect in your hand luggage. Why not ring the place you are staying and check if they have a dryer in the room then its one less thing to carry.
