We haven't been to that place specifically but love Benalmadena and used to go there frequently until we had Olivia and found Florida! It's a nice place with plenty of good beaches and great places to visit within a 2-3 hour drive. Good to get out and experience some of Spain rather than just the resorts but they are good too. If you have kids Tivoli World is a nice little theme park up in Arroyo de la Miel at the top of the hill. Also the market there used to be good and was on a Friday morning - probably still is. Lots of good restaurants around the marina area too. When we were last there Selwo had just opened with dolphin and sea lion shows - not Seaworld but small and not so busy and Olivia loved it there.

My brother his wife and kids stayed there last year but it was too far to walk to the centre where the Marina was etc., they had to use taxis :wavey:

We went there about 3 years ago, DD loved it.
The hotel was clean and provided everything we needed. We preferred the beach club to the main pool as it was quieter but saying that when we went it wasn't AI over there so most people stayed where the free food and drink were.
It is full of brits with a slight ring of Butlins about it but thats what the kids love. Perfect place to go with kids I wouldn't personally go if I didn't have kids.
It is in the middle of nowhere though so there are no bars/restuarants to walk to, we hired a car and went out and about.

Haven't stayed at the holiday village but I've been going to Benalmadena for the last 16 years and back there in August. We love it and there is quite a bit to do for the kids and the marina is lovely.
