Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me with my question? It's my birthday at the end of this month ( June 28th ) and my parents have paid for mine and my fiance's 2 ADR's as a birthday gift as we go away on July 28th. Our first breakfast is at Ohana's on July 30th and my df wants me to celebrate my birthday and make a fuss of me but I've told him that it's too late after my birthday.

The thing is we had booked to go away last year for my birthday and we had an adr booked at Ohana's on my birthday and everything was perfect until last April when suddenly my boyfriends mum passed away. He's an only child and only had his grandmother but she was ill herself so we had to sort everything out ourselves. We didn't know what to do about the holiday but it was decided for us 3 weeks later when his grandmother also passed away:( We were 27 at the time and were scared but worked together and got through it. We decided to save hard to go away this year and my df wanted us to go for my birthday and try again but his work would only allow him the factory shutdown weeks end of july/august so last month we took the plunge and booked our holiday. :)

He wants to make a fuss of me at the breakfast as a thank you for the help over the past year plus it's at Ohana's and I love Stitch  but I've told him not to worry as I think it's too late after my birthday and I will be 28 so maybe too old for that sort of thing

Sorry if this is long winded but wanted to see what you guys think and don't want to make a fool out of myself:) Thank you.

Most definately celebrate it!!:thumbs-up

My son will be 8 on 28th Nov and we go to Florida on 8th Dec. I have planned the 9th Dec as his Disney birthday. As we are usually away in Sept when my youngest has his birthday there, we wanted to make a special day for him as he has never been there for his birthday before. So this is his birthday trip.:o:

I have booked the Sci-Fi Diner which is where he wanted to go. I have told them its a birthday celebration and I will be getting him a birthday badge and a cake.:thumbs-up

I frequent another Disney forum which is predominantly Americans. They not only celebrate late but they celebrate and note it at every meal and wear their birthday badges the whole time they are there. Thats not something I could do but I do think you should have your special day with Stitch!:stitch:

First off, I am sorry to hear of the loss that you've experienced and am glad that you are now able to take your holiday.

Absolutely 100% celebrate your birthday!! Your BF is right by wanting to do that for you and it is never too late for it to be celebrated. When you go to the parks be sure to visit guest services and get your birthday badge. If you wear it around the park/restaurant they will make a proper fuss over you.

Everyone has special circumstances and we all can't celebrate special days on the exact day. That doesn't mean that it is too late. Come over, enjoy your holiday and have a blast doing it!!!!!

....and don't forget...once you step on WDW soil you become a kid again....act like it! *wink*

That's answered a question for me too - we were orignally going during late October to celebrate my birthday, but brought our trip forward so we could qualify for free DDP so will be home by my birthday (23 Oct). I just need to pick a day to 'celebrate' now...

Thank you Leanne and FlGirl for your help, I feel much better about the situation now :) It sounds like fun and it will also make my df happy so it should be good fun for both of us ;) How does he go about telling them for the breakfast? Does he do this before we go or can he do it on the morning of the breakfast? Also is it just Disney that do the badges or do any of the other parks do this?

Thank you again we are really looking forward to this holiday it will be the first time that we are away with a celebration :spin:

Since you have booked your breakfast I would have your DF (or yourself) call the dining line and have them add to your reservation that you are celebrating a birthday. They typically will do something special for you but I'm not sure what it is during the breakfast service. I would also have your DF confirm the breakfast note when arriving at the restaurant just to be sure they have that detail.

All of the WDW parks have birthday badges. Feel free to collect one at each park you visit.
