Hi all

My daughter wants to get a new I-Pod when we go to Florida in Sept. If she gets one from the USA will we have a problem recharging it when we get back?

Thanks

Tracy

Hi,
Are I-pods cheaper over there? I'm thinking of buying one when we go in September. :)

I bought an Ipod Touch from Target in October. The price I paid in $ was the price I saw in £ before I went on holiday.

Honeybee, a example is the ipod nano starts over here from £99, in the states it starts from £85, at the exchange rate of $1.9 to the pound

Well worth buying one out there. I got an Iphone last year and got it unlocked at home over the t'internet. SIM free and contract free... Saved over £700 me thinks...!!!

I would suggest anyone who wants an Ipod looks at the Walmart price and compares it to Amazon.co.uk. There is not a great deal of difference, don't forget to add 6% sales tax to US price.

As an example 32gb Ipod Touch

Walmart - $520 +6% (exchange at 1.9 to £) = £290
Amazon.co.uk = £295

Taking into account possible import duty I would just buy in the UK.

This isn't isolated to this model Ipod prices are fairly stable between UK and US.

They will be no cheaper in the USA than over here,Apple fix the prices so you can only pay the same price everywhere, the only thing that affects the price is the exchange rate,it will only save you a couple of dollars though.

Honestly its not, Circuit City will set you back £133 (incl tax and 1.9 exchange) for the 80gb Classic model, Walmart will be £145.

If you buy from Amazon (not necessarily the cheapest UK provider but reliable) its £141.

Dixons online charge £136 + £5 delivery and you should find the Dixons Duty Free airport price to be about £135 (basically £160 less vat).

Don't ruin your tax allowance (as small as it is) on something which is as cheap here and you can use on the plane journey out.
