It does depend on age and what shes into but Camden Market on a Saturday & Sunday especially the Lock area at top of High Street is great (but hectic), and you should see a West End show too.

Well there's the usual tourist stuff - London Eye, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, etc. I would also suggest a visit to Covent Garden, have a browse round the shops, grab a coffee or wine at one of the various eateries there. Also if the weather is good, you could do a cruise along the River Thames. There is an area between Tower Hill and London Bridge along the river on the south side which is great for eating and drinking, lots of places there and great views of the river and city, can't beat it in the sunshine!

A guided tour of Westminster Abbey ... so much history in there.

Depends what your mum is into but there is a ton of museums in London, the Zoo, Aquarium and all the old buildings. The Covent Garden suggestion is one I would agree with - great for sitting and people watching. Go to the half price ticket booth in Leicester Square and see what show tickets they have for the same day. The river is the best place to see the city from. Or the London Eye of course.

I lived in S.E. London for 9 years and when my family came to visit, they used to love visiting the museums, the London Dungeons (weird I know!!!) and just the general shopping "up town" and looking round the big shops (Harrods, Harvey Nicks, Selfridges etc - that was before we had them up north).
I always thought spending a suuny day having lunch in Richmond by the river was a lovely way to pass an afternoon.

Wicked is very good. See the sights in the daytime (many of which are listed above) and see the show in the evening.

Ceremony of the keys at Tower of London is very good and costs nothing (except donation). YOu have to write to them to get tickets for it.

Climb big ben. You have to arrange this via your local MP but it is very good although rather a lot of steps.

Take in a show.

Do London eye and river cruise.

Open Top tour bus (this often can be bought with free river cruise).:spin::spin:

For my fiftieth birthday we spent the afternoon having tea at the Ritz and then a ride on the London Eye. A great treat.

You could also do a tour on a red bus - loads of these around. I also like the riverboat trips, as you get to see a lot. Harrods is worth a couple of hours, as is the Tower of London (my favourite building).

In the evening I would see a show, and have dinner in Soho or Chinatown beforehand.
