Never been to Ponderosa (went to Shoneys once) and wondered how they do eggs for breakfast

I love my two eggs over easy with breakfast - do you get these at the buffet style restaurants ? do you have to order them seperate or do the restaurants do table srvice as well as serve yourself ?

Sorry if this sounds a stupid question but mainly ate at a Perkins restaurant last visit

I might be wrong, but I think that you could only get scrambled egg at Ponderosa. I cant remember seeing any other type.

When we last went you could have scrambled, cheesey scrambled or omlette. Not sure if you could order them extra or not?!?

Another vote for srambles/cheesy scrambled and omlette. I don't remember there being any eggs cooked to order

I think you can choose how they are cooked at golden corral.

only scrambled at ponderosa

As said if you go to golden coral for breakfast buffet you can choose to have your eggs fried or even have a fresh omelette - someone will cook them for you while you wait or even scramble them for you - might add that the scrambled ones freshly made are far nicer than the ones you get off the buffet:wavey:

Yep - Golden Corral for eggs how you like 'em. I'm afraid I really don't like scrambled egg, but always enjoy a nice egg over medium (this is where the white is cooked, yolk runny).

That sounds like over easy to me, although I think the determinant is how runny the yolk is.

Hi The Hardys,

The Golden Corals are everywhere - 2 on the 192 one at the crossroads at lbv and on i drive - they are a little dearer than the ponderosa or sizzler but are ten times as good as them with a lot more choice - they cook all their own bread, muffins etc., they do breakfast, lunch and dinner and definitely the best off site buffet imho:wavey::wavey:

Sounds good, even though we're on the DDP again this year think we might have to pop out on a couple of days down to the Golden Coral. Might just have to have scrambled, over-easy and an ommelette all on the same plate....

no over easy can still be a bit 'snotty' IMO. I always ask for over medium now ( which is runny but not snotty ;))

might add that the scrambled ones freshly made are far nicer than the ones you get off the buffet:wavey:That is probably because the scrambled egg they have at the buffet is powdered egg, not fresh!!(yuk) :omg:(they also use this for their french toast!)

Just to let you know Ponderosa now do fried eggs, or at least the one we went to in May this year did. Paid for them with buffet and drink. They were brought to the table a few minutes later.

Exactly! Don't like em when they're 'snotty':tounge:, that's why I ask for over medium - perfect:)

Glad I started this thread ....... didn't expect to get into a snotty egg debate

For the record always order mine over easy :tounge: and can't remember having any snotty ones ..... however last time we were there ordered the usual 2 over easy with corned beef hash and the eggs were not runny at all  I even became brave and complained and they couldn't apologise enough (perkins at LBV)

Made me a fresh breakfast immediately with 2 perfect eggs :spin:

The powered eggs in buffets puts me off eating them. Cheap and nasty.

I prefer mine over easy which is as you say white cooked, runny yolk and flipped - some people prefer over medium which is the same but just a little more cooked but as some have said in this thread reduces the risk of a "snotty egg" but I think it increases the risk of a hard egg.

Order both ways & see which you prefer.

I order Over Medium and have never had a hard egg yet .. I used to ask for over easy but the white could come undercooked

Sunny side up is fried on one side. Over easy is fried both sides but still soft - I think.

You can also get hard boiled eggs on the buffet at Ponderosa :wavey: They are in a white shell but taste exactly the same :spin:
