I will be staying at the Holiday Inn next year for the first 8 nights of our holiday and as I'm a female travelling on my own with two kids I'm a bit worried about safety - we plan on being in the parks until 10/11pm most nights and the thought of walking back to my room in the dark scares me:blush: Would I be safer staying in the tower block? Can anyone who has stayed in this hotel give me some advice please?

Can you only get access to the tower block by going through reception? If so this would seem safer to me as we would get a taxi to drop us at the main door then we could just walk in & use the lift to get to our room. I don't want to have to be walking through hotel grounds in the dark. I know I sound like a wimp but this is really worrying me:(

Hope someone can help, thanks very much.

Hi

Stayed at the holiday inn a few years ago and it was very safe, you wont have a problem wherever you stay:wavey:

the tower block is seperate to reception the main complex is to the left of the tower where you go through reception to access the ground flow section ,we were allocated the tower but refused because of the kids safety

The tower is safe. We've stayed there numerous times. You have to swipe your room key to get the lift. The rooms are much larger in the tower too. You can get the taxi to drop you right at the tower. Up a few steps and there are the lifts. The tower lobby was all being remodelled when we were there last October.

Thanks for the info, how do I guarantee a room in the tower? I'm not going for over 12 months but should I e-mail them or phone them nearer the time? Or should I ask Virgin to add notes to my booking requesting a room in the tower?

I email the hotel directly nearer the time - tell them you are returning guests and want a tower room, same as last time.;) - we always ask for a highish floor - away from any lobby noise:thumbs-up

Also get Vrigin to add it to the booking as a request. To be honest - if you're with Virgin they tend to put you in the nicer tower rooms anyway.

Have a great time. :wavey:

Ooh that's a really good idea! I will phone Virgin now & get them to add a note to my booking, then I'll e-mail the hotel nearer the time. Thanks for your help:wavey:
