DVC is the most marvellous thing IMHO!!!!
You purchase a number of points which can be used to "pay" for accommodation on site in luxury accommodation. Yes, it is basically timeshare. However, unlike European timeshare, you are not tied to a particular wekk(s) each year but can choose where you stay, when and how long for dependent on the number of points you have bought.

Every year you pay "annual" dues which are worked out according to your "home" resort and the number of points you have bought.

We have 170 points at BCV and go in a studio every other year for 3 weeks at least.

When we were looking into it we compared the price for DVC to the price for buying a static caravan, having it taken to Cornwall and paying site fees per year. DVC worked out cheaper!

The DVC stands in the parks can arrange for you to have a tour and will give you loads more information. They do not do hard sell. In fact, we came home after our tour in November and didn't buy until the folloring May as we were lookign for the "catch". Yes, we are very cynical!!

We couldn't find the catch and have enjoyed vacations with DVC every since.

There is even more choice of places to stay these days as they are building a new DVC resort at Disneyland in Ca and also in Hawaii

Hi Penny

We looked into it earlier this year but decided it wasn't for us.

It's basically a timeshare with Disney. It's done on a points system so you buy your points and then the amount of points you use will vary depending on where you choose to stay, the size of your accommodation and the time of year.

I'm sure someone will be able to explain it better than I have but you won't get any lengthy hard sell from Disney. They don't need to, it sells itself.

It's just a case of looking into weather or not it meets your budget and your holiday requirements.
