I have been taking a look at the Gallery pictures and have noticed that alot of the hotels' housekeeping staff leave towels in shapes of animals etc in your room along with towel toothbrush holders etc.

Does this happen in all disney hotels? Is it done everyday?

We're staying at the BC

I think it's a bit hit & miss. We've stayed at ASMo twice and received nothing. This year we stayed at POR and received some great towel animals for the first few days, including a bird and an elephant. After this mousekeeping started arranging the toys that my kids had bought in the window instead.:wavey:

Hi we have stayed in Poly a few times and the last in Aug 2007 we got nothing but in Nov 2006 when we went the lovely lady made one for my son everyday. So i think it depends who you get. x

Thanks for your replies everyone, I'll just have to wait and see - I may even ask if they can do a couple especially for the kids!

I think you stand more chance if you have children and they have cuddly toys that they leave in the rooms. The mousekeepers make little displays including them.
I have always gone as part of a couple and in 4 stays in WDW hotels, never had one made for us. One time we were with my sister and her kids - they got them every day in their room

We leave mousekeeping envelopes and are usually quite generous but have never yet had towel animals.

Funny thing is that the worst mousekeeping we've had was at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

We stay at BC and have had towel animals. We brought one home last time - a ladybird made of small flannels!!! It sits in our family bathroom in pride of place!

The thing with "towel animals" is that you shouldn't expect to recieve them but view them as a treat.

There's no relationship between the amount you tip and amount of animals, it's just luck of the draw.

so do you get to keep them and take them home?

Well, technically they are the property of Disney but many people take them home.

I've never heard of the "towel animal" police chasing people for a few flannels! - LOL

I think it just depends on who makes up your room. We had none in ASMo but a couple in ASM. Staying at POFQ this time so we'll see if we get any there. We leave our mousekeeping tips daily so who ever makes up our room gets the tip.

There ws a post quite a while back, (I can't find it at the moment), where someone had telephoned Mousekeeping to ask if they could take a towel animal home with them. The reply was that the towel animals are gifts, so it's OK to take them. We still have a small towel bird that was made for us.

In 2004 we stayed in AKL for my 40th birthday. DH and the kids decorated the room with banners and balloons etc on the day, and DH had disney flowers delivered with minnie and mickey soft toys included (really lovely surprise).

That day the maid left a whole range of animals made out of flannels and arranged them on the bed along with her own birthday wishes. I had never seen them done before, and I was really touched she had gone to so much effort, must have taken ages to do. Made the day extra special and something I wont forget. The kids loved them too! They were added to over the rest of the week and by the end of our stay we had a whole table full of animals, the elephants were my favourite!

Never had any since and nearly always stay on-site, so think it is luck of the draw, but may-be a special occasion helps?
