Again..1st timers just returned.

Found supermarket chain called PUBLIX.Many dotted around (We used the ones on the 27 and the 192)

Reasonable prices and very good choice.
Very modern, even having an English section in the Ethnics section !(good for teabags, heinz products & chocolate)

However, we ate out most of the time, preferring the traditional home country origins of traditional American cuisine...............Steak, Bacon, Pancakes etc...!!!!!

We use Publix mostly for food shopping or sometimes Winn Dixie.

Did you know that Publix have stated that they think there is enough business for them to open a new store every two miles. Can't see Tesco getting away with that.

Of course its Walmart for most other things!!!!!

Hi Margaret,

Publix sells food and groceries as opposed to" Everything on Earth"!! that Walmart sells.

WE always visit Walmart (though you have to be careful not to lose the kids, it so massive!!)

We stayed near a Publix in Kissimmee and found at the Deli counter they make the most fabulous sandwiches (to order), full of salad and tonnes of meat:D

DH can't wait to go back for another one !!

The supermarkets are a great choice for a lunch if you just want to chill in your hotel room or villa.

As well as great subs (long rolls to us) and sandwiches, some of them also have a hot counter where you can get chicken etc.,

Always used to use Goodings at Crossroads but now that Publix has opened near the Premium Outlets will be visiting them next time as we always liked them on the Gulf Coast.
On the West Coast I like Safeway and Albertsons.

We discovered Supertarget this trip, found it had a great choice, was cleaner than Wal mart and cheaper than Publix. Its on the junction of Orange Blossom Trail and 417 greenway, also stocked up at Costco.

Am I the only one who has found food prices have rocketed in the last few years?

There are a couple of Albertsons in the area!
I liked them a lot as they seemed clean and modern,

I've never been in an Albertsons in all the times we've been to Florida! There is one at the Winter Park Mall whick we'll have to try this year.

As our trip will be our first time, does anyone know how easy it is to buy gluten free dairy free products?

Mad dog you could try emailing Publix to ask them. I think they did sell them, but best to check.

Winn Dixie is very good for offers ie: Beers, Coke and ice-cream! You can look their web site for weekly offers (i know i'm sad)!!
Also Publix do the best lemon meringue pie ever.

I love publix. I have my shopping list written out already aisle by aisle.

In the past when I went with my parents they always insisted on Publix, because the one time we went to Wal-Mart we spent over 2 hours there!

So Wal-Mart is my fave :)

We've tried a couple of Albertsons (the one near Curry Ford road, up Semoran and one near Boggy Creek road area ,as they were close to where we were staying) Goodings, Publix, Winn Dixie and of course Wal-mart and love them all looking at what we spent :jump: and mainly because if we are shopping in there, we are on holiday:jump: :jump: :jump:

We still have to try Costco, Target & K-Mart etc :p:
