Hi,
My partner has a terrible fear of water and cannot swim, hopefully the one to one swimming lessons he'll be getting from Friday will help!
Does anyone know how accomodating and helpful they are at DC to non swimmers, I believe you can get a floatation vest etc...any non swimmers been,
Thanks,
Kris

It will not be a problem with being a non swimmer tell him not to worry, they provide you with a wetsuit which will give you buoyancy and you can also get a life vest which will keep you afloat
Tell the trainer in your group that you have a non swimmer and they will arrange a shallow swim for you where they bring the dolphins into the shallower water

I'm a really weak swimmer and terrified of water over my face and not being able to put my feet down and I've been twice! The first time I didn't do the dolphin swim but the 2nd time was my birthday, the staff couldn't have been nicer. I wore a big vest both times and you are so bouyant with it on. A couple of places on the lazy river you go out of your depth but the vest makes sure you don't, you just bob along.
For the swim I did go out into the deep water very nervously but was fine as the vest keeps you up no problems.
I did miss out on swimming with the fish though as you have to wear a snorkel and I just couldn't do it, not being a big fish lover it didn't really bother me.
Hope he's alright, good luck and just enjoy!!

One of our group this year is a non swimmer and they will be doing the dolphin swim for the second time
Last time she was not very confident in the water so would not go out of her depth, and the trainer was aware of this and brought the dolphin into the shallows to meet her so like I say they are well used to non swimmers
Also the vest alone will give you good buoyancy but you can choose a wet suit and a vest and with this combination you would bob around the lagoon like a cork, you have just got to be confident in the kit you are wearing

I am a crap swimmer basically lol.And the life jackets is fantastic you float theres no way of going under.
Just watch out for rocks as your walking in though lol
My mum was the none swimmer last year and she just stood at the edge. But you still get a life jacket as you can go swim in the ray pool and coral reef :thumbs-up
They are very accomadating imo for non swimmers )

Dont rely on just the flotation vest to keep you afloat - it doesnt. You will need to get a life jacket as well. Get one as soon as you get in the park so you can get the right size.
Had to get one for my DH (cant swim) and for myself (am a poor swimmer) so I speak from experiance. The staff were very good at the dolphin swim, we both swam in shallow water. Shame the photos were lousy though.

I am not confident in the water and managed fine at Discovery Cove with the life vest. As dh and dd are good swimmers we were quite far out and I still managed

My DH had never swam before in his life so a life jacket was the best thing for him. I wore a life jacket as well even though I can swim I am not confident in the water.

Just to add to everyone else's reassurances...I am a complete non-swimmer, but I was determined to get as much as I could out of the dolphin swim and I did! I got a proper floatation life jacket and also told the trainer I was a non swimmer. He was so helpful that he actually got me to hold on to him as he swam us both out to the dolphin. He waited until i was securely holding on to the dolphin until he let us go. Fantastic experience!

My other half is not a confident swimmer but with the life vest and life jacket on he was fine, he was quite newvous before the swim but has now said he really wants to do it again! So it just goes to show...
