Hi we are doing this for the first time with children aged 12, 8 and 4. I have heard that arriving by boat for the first view is fab, is this just for those staying at disney hotels or can anyone do it. Secondly how much does it cost and where do i get it from, do i need to book. Theres so many questions in my head. I want to make it as magical as poss. :d:

It's free and you pick it up at the Transportation & Ticket Centre when you've parked your car.
Anyone can use it.:thumbs-up

Anyone can use Disney transport, boat, buses and monorail there
is no charge for people not staying onsite.

The boat goes from the TTC, you can also get the monorail from
here too :thumbs-up

It's free. Hop on at the MK TTC. You've got the choice of the mono-rail and the boat. The boat is cool. Sometimes they have special cpations of the boats...... Once we had Chip 'N' Dale on the boat....

Just to clarify, When you drive to Magic Kingdom, you actually park at the TTC (Ticket and Transportation Centre), this is still quite far from the park. You then get a tram from your car to the TTC, and at the TTC you need to take either the ferry or the monorail to the actual park. The park is on the far side of a lake.

If there is a ferry in the dock when you arrive, then it's worth getting the ferry but if you've just missed one, then I'd go for the monorail, the ferry is nice but so is the monorail, it's not a massive difference in excitement.

It's free and anyone can use it. You either take the ferry or the monorial into Magic Kingdom.

It takes a while but it's magical as you sail up to MK with Cinderellas Castle in the background. Well worth taking that bit longer to get there.

The other thing to remember if you're staying onsite and using Disney transport is the buses don't go to the TTC, you get dropped at the park gates! :wavey:

We're staying at International Drive so will probably getting hotel transport to MK, i was just wondering though, however you arrive at MK you don't actually arrive to the gates do you, you've either got to get the monorail or ferry?

I hope that makes sense??!

Disney buses actually drop you at the main gate so no need for ferry or monorail. Not sure about other hotels.

you get Disney Transport from Your Hotel if they have it, The ferry is inclusive of park ticket cost when you get to MK ticket and transportation Entrance once in head for Ferryboat it takes you across its a wonderful experience to see the Castle come into view
INFO FROM DISNEY
You cannot go directly to the turnstiles, but will enter the MK by way of the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), where the parking lot is located. Once you’ve parked, you will hop a shuttle to the boarding area for transport to the MK. Your choices are the express monorail or the ferryboat. (Note that the ferries don’t always operate in the afternoons during slower times of the year.) The monorail is a few minutes faster (the trip takes four to five minutes), but it often has a longer wait than the ferry (which takes six to seven minutes). If the monorail entry ramp is packed with people, take the ferry if it is in or approaching the dock. Also take the ferry if a magical approach is more important to you than a speedy one. Budget a total of 15 to 25 minutes for your entire trip from parking lot to entrance turnstiles.

For a first time visitor I would definitely suggest using the ferry boat, it's just the most magical way to arrive! It's all included in your ticket price too. And don't worry about the time it might take, just savour every single moment of the lovely experience!

Think of it as a "park and ride" system - you drive and park at the Magic Kingdom car park (which, as has been said, is confusingly referred to as the "Transportation and Ticket Center") and then you take the free transportation over to the park itself. The boat is definitely the best and most magical view for your first experience, then maybe try the monorail next time, or on you way back to the car?

However if you are staying on site and use the disney transport the bus will miss out this and take you straight to the enterance of the park so if you can drive do so, or get bus to the transportation and ticket centre not mk, then catch the ferry, we always come back on the last day this way for a lasting memory shot of the most magical place in the world!

Hi its a great way to get to the MK,we were really lucky last year,we arrived early and the kids wanted to go over on the ferry so we walked over to the ferry and a CM told us we were to early we said thats ok we will just wait,5 mins later she came back and said The captain is taking staff over and would we like to join them,it was great we were the only ones on the ferry apart from some CMs,the kids got badges from the Captain and a big goodbye from him over the tanoy as we left the ferry,it was a perfect start to a perfect day:wave:

The ferry is deffinately the way to arrive. When we first went, my partner was very reluctant, not every having beena disney fan, begrudginly he came, and we crossed to MK on the boat. It was a joy to see his jaw drop as the castle came into sight, he has since been converted and is now a huge fan!
