Hi,
My mum was really hoping to have a dolphn experience when we go to Florida in November, but she doesn't swim so don't want to go to Discovery Cove. Have seen a tour at seaworld "SeaWorld Orlando's Dolphin Spotlight Tour" but was wondering if anyone has done this tour? Also would it be good for two small children aged 6 and 4?
Thanks everyone
:wavey: hope to hear from you soon

I may be wrong, but looking at the Seaworld site it seems that quite a few of the tours have been changed.
I previously did the Dolphin Nursery tour, which I think ended last year and it's a shame if you can no longer visit the Dolphin Nursery with a tour as that part was brilliant.
There's usually a lot of question and answers on the tours so the children might be a a bit young for that part but if they love the Dolphins too then it will probably hold their attention for the 60 minutes. The trainers are very chatty and helpful but usually quite a brisk walk between park areas, so bear that in mind.
Even though your Mum doesn't swim you can still do Discovery Cove as a non-swim package, but I know my Mum isn't confident in the water and wouldn't get in at all and yours might be the same.
HTH a bit

Hi,
thanks for getting back to me, I think we might give it a go, hopefully if the tour is in the morning the kids will still have plenty of bounce.
I know you don't have to swim to go to Discovery Cove, but I think it is extremely expensive to go to and not swim and I'd rather spend my money on something else, where the kids and mum and at least touch a dolphin!
Maybe I'm just being tight!

I don't think you're being tight Tracy, it is expensive especially if there's quite a few of you. I would imagine that with the tour you will still get some interaction with the Dolphins, as in the previous tour. Usually learning hand signals, stroking and feeding. I'm sure your family will enjoy it, the trainers are very experienced and helpful.

go to seaworld and feed the dolphins in the dolphin cove feeding area. this is the closest we had ever been to dolphins and loved every minute. there is some film footage on youtube

Hi I agree the Dolphin nursery tour was great but its been replaced by the spotlight tour which for your kids ages will be good as u needed to be 10 or over the nursery tour

I contacted Seaworld customer services and they emailed me more information today. Basically there is plenty of time for "petting" the dolphins on the tour, so I think me are going to book this and I'll let you know how it was when we return. :D
