View Full Version : Universal Studios strategy?
Hi Everyone,
I would like to have a strategy for when we go to Universal Studios - basically just which are the really popular rides that we should get on early on, and in what order? From what I can gather (never been) they would be Simpsons, The Mummy, Men in Black and Jimmy Neutron - but in what order?
Also, we are planning to get Express passes, but as you can only use them once for each ride would it be better to do the first (or first couple) rides without using the passes at opening time - or will the "stand-by" queues already be long even then?
Thanks
Matthew :spin:

We were there 2 weeks ago and the Simpsons ride had the biggest queue all day, I expect because its so new. We went straight to this first thing. Great ride though!
The mummy wasn't so busy first thing but was later in the day.Love this ride!
Shrek also got very busy. Good family fun.
Have an amazing time;)

We normally head to Men in Black first, but this year wiil do Simpsons first as it's new, then MIB, then The Mummy.... so we work from the back of the park forwards.

Sounds like a good plan. I'd agree with this. You'd be best doing Simpsons first. Then MiB, that still gets really, really busy later in the day. Form my experience, The Mummy is fairly steady all day. However, I do go down the single rider lane as the misses doesn't do coasters!! Shrek will be busy most of the day so it's probably a good idea to get this one done early too.

simpsons wasnt open when we went in october, so we went straight for Men in Black and loved it. We went back another day to have a go.

You could enjoy the parks strategy-free and largely queue-free, by staying for at least 1 night in one of the Universal hotels and enjoying FOTL access for each ride as many times as you want.

bozzas got it right, stay overnight but check in say mon and get your passes leather it on mon sleep and leather it again tuesday as it still counts,,,,if not dead simple ,,,get to the park/s 30 min b4 opens then at opening go for it while everyone else,,,or most of them are still having brekkie,,,,that tip goes for all parks,,,enjoy bondy. ps booking the hotel for 1 night may work out cheaper than b uying fast passes.

We normally go to Florida during August time & I've never found Universal or IoA to be anywhere near as Disney especially during the week. My DD & I went to IoA for opening & rode Hulk (front of ride) Spiderman, Duelling Dragons (several times front of ride) Jurassic Park etc etc , we then head to Universal & did The Mummy, Jaws, Earthquake & Men in Black & believe it or not we had lunch in Richters Burgers at about 12.30 & then headed back to Disney!
The longest queue was the Mummy as it had just opened, but most rides were either walk on or 5 - 10 minute wait

We've just come back and the strategies above seem about right. For the first couple of days we had a fast pass by staying at an on-site hotel and by using that we realised, for the first time, how quick the single riders are rides. For the second half of the week when we didn't have fast pass we used single rider and if anything it was quicker than FP and most of the time we rode together. This worked in both Uni and IOA.
