View Full Version : Heated swimming pool?
This may seem a really silly question but do I need to have our villa pool heated for our three week holiday from 15th May to 5th June?
Some people say yes as it will be too cold first thing in the morning and in the evenings.
Other people say no because the weather is quite hot at that time of year and pool will be warm enough.
Oh, what a dilemma - if only I had the same dilemma in this country!

we were staying at a villa with an unheated pool in June 2002, and Katie and Phil swam, but I found it a little chilly myself.
..we found that even when the weather was hot in April-early May, we were glad we'd had it heated...not sure whether there is a cut-off, say July/August, but I reckon I'd play safe and pay the extra $ (I suppose you could always ask the management to turn it off if you found it too warm, but you won't get a refund!)
We always like the pool heated whatever time of year it is. I`d definitely go for it.

We don't normally have pool heat in May but I guess everyone has different expectations of what is acceptable heat.
Maybe you could ask if it is possible to pay for pool heat when you get there, that way if it is OK you have saved some money. However you might find that they ask a little extra (say $15) to turn it on as it costs for someone to come out. You could also ask if they have a pool cover as this keeps in the heat over night making it warmer for the day.
Ooh it's a difficult one!!
We've been over in May/June and had the heating turned on to find by late-afternoon the pool was roasting - far to hot to swim in but great for early morning dips!
I'd have it turned on whilst you're over there myself.

Personal choice I haven't had any guest have poolheat at this time of year -yet .More important is using a pool cover
if the villa you are staying in has one -make sure you use it as it will keep in overnight any heat built up during the day
