Dining Changes Announced - Sad news about LTT

Liberty Tree Tavern - Beginning January 5, 2009, the Magic Kingdom's Liberty Tree Tavern will no longer offer character dining. The last character dinner at the Tavern will be on January 4, 2009. (Posted July 1, 2008)

Garden Grill Lunch - Beginning October 6, 2008, Epcot's Garden Grill will no longer serve lunch. The Garden Grill will continue to serve dinner.

I know - we have it booked this August. Wonder why they are changing it.

It looks like Disney are trying to remove most of the character dining out of the parks to the resorts. LTT is one of our favourites and will be sadly missed.

We are going to LTT in October for the first time on dibbers recommendations - glad I booked it now, before it's gone :wave:

We managed to get our first ever LTT ADR for September, I'm so glad we'll get to try this at least once

We are booked for GG on the 6th of october for lunch.I was really looking forward to this don't ask me why!;) it just appealed with the moving restaurant and eating veg grown in the land!We will wait to see if disney calls us to cancell this meal.We have decided to go to sunshine seasons instead so no need for another adr.There will be lots of families who will turn up looking for there adr at GG who don't read disney boards.:wavey:

Just to buck the trend I am quite pleased. We first went to LTT at lunchtime (no characters) and loved the menu and the service, it was close to a signature restaurant at the time. We then tried the evening meal and were very disappointed at the quality of the food, such a difference. We are not fussed about character interaction and are quite pleased to see what will (I hope) be a quality TS option at MK. JMHO

Couldn't agree more, it was a briliiant different buffet before!!

We done LTT last month and had a great time... food was good and the character interaction (especially Goofy who was sensationally funny) was excellent.... I did notice though a lot of people having to wait (we was 35 mins)... maybe Disney's way of thinking is that people will move out quicker without the distraction of Goofy and co??

Any one know why LTT are not going to be doing character dining?
Went for the first time last going again this year (i think) but will be sad not to go again and not have the characters there as they ad to the atmosphere

I have emailed Disney to ask about reservations already made (we have one for December) this is there reply

As of October 6, 2008, this restaurant will be serving dinner only.

Although you will be contacted shortly regarding this change, you may contact us at 407-WDW-DINE (939-3643) at any time to make a reservation for a different restaurant.

We appreciate your understanding.
