My children only like a handful of types of food, very fussy is an understatement althought they are slowly getting better...:d: I have just made an adr for an evening meal at Boma as we are staying at akl just for 1 night (the rest at a villa) and ive managed to find a menu, im ashamed too say i dont know what half of it is myself!lol, is it as fussy as it sounds?

You'll love it. Loads of different types of food to pick and choose from.

I know i'll get shot down but I think Boma is awful! In all my years of going to Florida its the worst meal I ever had . 8 of us went ranging from 2 to 62 no one like it and we are not fussy eaters and all well travelled. Do yoursel a favour and go to one of the other nice Disney Hotels to eat GF Poly or CR you will get a far nicer meal.
We went last year and had a couple of fussy eaters in our party and they loved the food. There is plenty for everyone and not everything spicy or cooked with the african theme. I thought the soups were amazing and then pigged out on Prime rib which was gorgeous. It was one of my favorite meals of the trip and one of the few ADR's i've made fro when we go back in December.

Boma's is at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
We have been twice. A great meal, plenty of good food. Everything to cover even the most fussy of eaters. As said above, not everything is "african spicy" and the puds are wonderful too.

Sorry i didn't know if Animal Kingdom Lodge was in the Park hence my question. thanks
An evening trip to Boma is something we fit in on every trip.
Which reminds me, looking at that countdown, I better get my backside into gear and sort out some ADRs!

It's a very different experience from the usual buffet but you can still get 'normal' Disney kids food for them if they don't like anything.
The desserts are heavenly :)
So you booked then? Well done :)
We love Boma. The choice of food there is just incredible!
If you are a dessert fan you will be in heaven.
My favourites are the soup, there is usually a choice of five and they are flavours to die for. I would go to Boma and just eat the soup, given the chance ;)
There is a great selection of all sorts of food, both for adventurous and less adventurous people. If your kids won't try the "unusual" food there is always chicken strips, Mac N Cheese and the like there too....
My DDs really like trying all the new things here, and if they don't like something, they leave it and ty something else. But mostly they like everything.

We went last year and thought it was great. My three year old loved it - you will not be disappointed.
We have booked again for this year. In fact could be there when you are!!!!

You wont get shot down from me. I am a very adventurous eater but having tried Boma twice (the second time because I was sure I had got it wrong) I have to say I absolutely hated it too. Whatever the food was, it was neither authentic African (well maybe the bobotie is in name but it didnt taste authentic) or tasty. I dont think I have had a worse meal at Disney. I can remember one awful soup which was like dishwater with lumps of sausage and courgette - yuck. The prime rib was prime fat. The service the second time was worse than the first. I think it is a very overrated buffet and will not be giving it a third try. Ds thought it was OK but dd and I both agreed the food was not nice.

That sounds horrid! I'm glad that's never been on when I've eaten there as I might have had to revise my opinion about the lovely soup choices.
I know when I've eaten at somewhere and not liked it much but others have raved about it, I wonder if I've been unlucky. But if I'd been twice like you and not liked either time I wouldn't try a third time, that's for sure.

We haven't yet made it to Boma as last time the only ADR I could get was for late and in the end I had to cancel it but it is on our list for the next visit. It is interesting that people have such different opinions but then we have eaten at some restaurants where on one visit it has been brilliant but on another visit it has been terrible (Mythos is one example that springs to mind) - so it shows that it is not just personal taste although that plays a part but that restaurants can have good and bad days.
I think thats true Sue. I would say that 90% of reviews for Boma are v.good, so although Im not in the majority, and my experiences werent good, they still add to the mix. Because most reviews are consistently good, I would say, definitely try it. Just because I dont get it or dont like it means very little. Go with the majority, try it and see what you think. As for Mythos, apart from Kobe, it is my favourite off site restaurant! :pgig: I love it.

We tried Boma for an evening meal for the first time last year and didn't enjoy it at all.
Wouldn't life be boring though if we all enjoyed the same things (except for Disney of course)

Im so pleased that their are more of you that didn't like it!
We would never return.
We loved it, but I am 80% veggie (dont ask just a personal choice) so that may have a bearing on my opinion, my daughter was born in SA and I loved the whole ambience around, I have to admit our waiter wasn't fabulous, and he was only there for drinks and bill but we love that you can pick and mix try something and leave it if you aren't keen, my daughters only complaint was that they didn't have chips and ice cream!

So its a thumbs up:thumbs-up from our house, with everyone's tastes being diffrent all i can say is try it for yourself and see what you think.

We went last year and are returning again this year, it is so varied and I loved the Watermelon Rind Salad!! The salads taste so different to others you may have tried, but they have all the classic too - Pot Roast, Macaroni, Ribs, Baked Ham, loads of different styles of potatoes - there really is something for everybody. We all had seconds/thirds, even the children!!:wavey::wavey:
