View Full Version : DIBB Server Upgrade
Hi,
This is to inform you that over the next few days you may experience periods of non connectivity to the DIBB.
We are having to upgrade the hardware (Server) that the DIBB currently lives on. This will involve a brand new server and it will be located in a different data center, although still based in London.
The upgrade has arisen due to our current server hardware being no longer supported by the current data center. So we have taken this opportunity to upgrade to a brand new Server that will give us more room for future expansion.
We have to configure the new server with all the required software and security ready to accept the DIBB site. Once this is completed then we have to transfer all the files and databases from the current server to the new server. After this has been completed we then have to soak test the new server for a period of time to iron out any problems. Then once we are happy we then have to close the current server and update the databases on the new server with all the latest posts, threads and PM's etc.
We will try and keep any disruption to a minimum and keep you informed.
Thanks for letting us know Stu - hope it goes ok

ok, is this better?
Box that holds all your posts is going to be changed for a new bigger Box and we are going to put the new box in a different cupboard :D
The technical bit is.... we need to build the new box first and make sure the lid fits :D

Now you're confusing me. :erm:
What colour will this box be, will it be cardboard or metal and just how big will it be????
I thought the first explanation made a lot of sense. ;)
Good luck though, lets hope it all goes smoothly.
Phew thank goodness I'm planning on having a life over the weekend!

I'm going to sound very selfish (and sad) but while I understand why this has to be done, I am hoping it doesn't happen during tonight's BB!!

Thanks Stu for the idiots guide - glad I am going off to London on Sunday as my dodgy internet connection drives me mad enough when it interferes with my dibbing without bigger boxes getting in on the act:d:.

Ahhhhh much better, even I understand that! Am feeling a bit scared though, as I fear that if you are off too long I will start to get the shakes!
Good luck, oh and don't make any school boy errors like not putting a handle on the lid!!
