Hello all

May be a silly question but why do some people have more than 1 dvc home resort?
Is it just the 11 month window and do you have to have the same use year and 1 member account?

The more i think about it i cannot see the benefit, any thoughts

They are all usually linked to the same member account and have the same use year. It gives an 11 month advantage at more than one home resort and as it is seperate contract can also be sold off easier.....not that we would want to part with any of ours,

We're happy with our OKW contract but when they announce Contemporary DVC we'll probably buy there just to be sure we can get an MK view at 11 months as I have a feeling these would be the most popular.

We're planning to add on at a different resort next year. The benefit is that you can book two different resorts at 11 months out rather than having to wait until teh 7 month window.

We will buy the same use year yes.

It's ok having 2 or more home resorts but you can only book at the 11 month window with the points that you have at that resort, ie: if you had 200 points at SSR and 50pts at Contempary resort you can book your 200 point stay at ssr but only a 50 point stay at contempary resort! Once you hit the 7 month window you can book anywhere that you can get a room!

Disney have recently changed their booking process so that you can book your home resort 11 months indavance calculated from your arrival date and not departure date. Snag is that this applies to 7 day bookings, so if going for 8 or more you may have to contact member services more than once.

We have two home resorts - VWL and BCV - and even though they both are on the same account and have the same use year, we do treat them as two different accounts. We have 150 points at VWL (which was the minimum number of points you could buy direct from DVC at the time) and 72 points at BCV. Using banking and borrowing we spend the BCV points once every three years, i.e. spend up to 216 at once. For the other two years we use banking and borrowing to stay at VWL using up to 225 points a stay. We then get the advantage of the 11 month window at both resorts, which I believe are the hardest to get a reservation at due to the small number of villas and the popularity.

I have thought about buying some AKV points to get a second trip each year :pgig:
